Previously, fans were worried that Hoang Thuy Linh's movie would overshadow the "Say Hi" Brothers' movie after its release. However, with this situation, they can breathe a sigh of relief.
On March 14, "Vietnamese Concert Film: We Are Vietnamese" was officially released. This is Hoang Thuy Linh's first documentary, which she devoted all her heart to. However, after its release, the work did not receive much attention.
With about 40 screenings per day, according to Box Office Vietnam, as of noon on March 16, "Vietnamese Concert Film: We Are Vietnamese" only earned over 100 million VND. The film's daily revenue also only reached a few tens of millions of VND.
If we compare "Vietnamese Concert Film: We are Vietnamese" with "Anh trai say hi: The villain creates the hero", the documentary of Anh trai is much more outstanding. When it was first released, this work always had a revenue of 2 to 3 billion VND per day.
Previously, when Hoang Thuy Linh's film was about to be released, it made "Anh Trai" fans panic because this was a work that the female singer had cherished for 2 years, investing no less than other projects. However, with the figures just announced, fans can rest assured about their idol's hard-to-surpass achievements.
At the film's premiere, when asked about revenue, Hoang Thuy Linh said: "My film genre is picky about viewers, it's hard to get audiences to the theater. My brothers and I here create moments, keep this film as a beautiful memory, so we don't think about revenue."
Singer See Tinh added that she hopes the audience will "find some inspiration to overcome difficulties in life" when watching her work. It is known that the 98-minute documentary "Vietnamese Concert Film: We are Vietnamese" shows Hoang Thuy Linh's epic stage moments, efforts and emotions with music.
From high angles to panning shots, Kawaii Tuan Anh effectively used every passionate moment of thousands of audiences and the beautiful interactions that the female singer had. The lighting and sound effects were also very impressive, all blending together to truly recreate the atmosphere between Hoang Thuy Linh and her fans.
But despite the investment in visuals, "Vietnamese Concert Film: We are Vietnamese" still cannot create a strong impression in terms of content. The work does not have many valuable details, and has not portrayed Hoang Thuy Linh as a talented artist with a rich personality.
Many personal moments of Hoang Thuy Linh were presented, but not in detail. She did not share too deeply about her career journey or concert performance. What the female singer said was mentioned in previous interviews, making the film's content lack novelty and appeal.
Some people think that Hoang Thuy Linh talks too much in a music documentary. All the guests interviewed could not say anything other than... praising her. The aspects of her career journey, personal feelings or the challenges she has overcome have not been fully exploited, making the film unable to truly touch the audience's emotions.
Towards the end, "Vietnamese Concert Film: We Are Vietnamese" shows more and more clumsy arrangements. What makes many people question is Hoang Thuy Linh's live singing voice. Instead of enjoying the singer's real voice, viewers only seem to hear audio versions that have been edited and carefully polished through studio effects. Perhaps this is also one of the reasons why the film is not selling well.
Regarding other works outside the theater, "Quy Nhap Trang" continued to top the revenue on the weekend, selling 38,545 tickets/3,407 screenings. Up to now, Nhat Trung's film has earned more than 107.6 billion VND, joining the club of Vietnamese films earning hundreds of billions of VND at the beginning of the year.
Coming in second on the March 16 box office chart is "The Pit of Deat.h" - a re-release of director Christopher Nolan. "The Extremely Funny Assassin" continues to be a hit at Vietnamese theaters, earning 1.02 billion VND. Meanwhile, "The House of the Immortals" was pushed down to fourth place on the daily box office chart.
