After an impressive appearance at the 2025 Oscars, Lisa also attracted attention when she released a new solo album called Alter Ego, accompanied by a vinyl version and a signed CD, attracting a large number of fans around the globe.
However, a controversy erupted when some fans questioned the authenticity of autographs on autographed albums. A fan after receiving the album immediately shared on social networks, expressing doubts that the signature on the album was not signed by Lisa herself, but could have been created by an autopen.
It is worth noting that, although there are some differences between the signatures on different albums, the copies sold in the same store or region have suspiciously identical signatures. This led many to believe that the signature was not signed by hand, but may have been copied using technology.
The incident quickly attracted widespread attention, with many fans expressing disappointment and frustration. They claim that the signed album is sold at a significantly higher price than the regular version, but if the signature is not signed by Lisa herself, this may be deceiving consumers.
In addition to the criticism, some fans still defended Lisa, saying that the fault may lie with the production team or management, not Lisa herself. However, some opinions point out that because this album was released under the record company LLOUD - founded and operated by Lisa herself as CEO, the female singer is directly responsible for this case.
Currently, LLOUD has not yet given an official response to this controversy. While waiting for an answer from Lisa or the company, the debate in the fan community has not shown any signs of cooling down.
Along with that, Lisa's album was commented not very well by a music critic of Pitchfork. This person put the album of Hoang Thuy Linh and some Vietnamese artists on the 'scale' when responding to Lisa ( Blackpink) fans. Currently, the review of Lisa's solo album "Alter Ego" (Blackpink) has caused controversy on social networks.
The person in charge of reviewing Lisa's album is Joshua Minsoo Kim. This critic gave the album a score of 5.2/10 and had harsh criticisms, full of sarcas.m. "Lisa, a member of the record-setting K-pop gir.l group Blackpink, needs to convince you that she has depth without her fellow group members. But Alter Ego proves that she doesn't have that."
"Alter Ego, like many of Blackpink's recent productions, doesn't try anything daring... "Born Again" is a mediocre disco song in the style of Dua Lipa. "Dream" is a shallow ballad...". "When she's tasked with performing a song, the songs get boring." "She shows up as the second-place Cardi B in ' Fxck Up The World,' and it wasn't until Future appeared that we heard some personality."
"Just one sentence in 'Fxck Up the World' sums up the whole experience: 'They want the old Lisa, so listen to my old music.' It's hard to imagine who wouldn't want to do that" - some of Joshua Minsoo Kim's comments on the album "Alter Ego". Pitchfork is a website known for its rigorous reviews. Many artists with commercially successful albums have received low scores from this specialized site.
However, besides the concurring opinions, many viewers said that critic Joshua Minsoo Kim's expression of Lisa's album was "too harsh" and like it was created to "incite rage". Fan Lisa quoted Joshua Minsoo Kim as unprofessional when he shared on Instagram: "I wrote about this terrible album during my lunch break."
After that, he shared on X/Twitter that he received hundreds of kÃ.ch messages from Kpop fans after the review.
Joshua Minsoo Kim also responded frankly. He wrote: "People ask us how we rate the album on Pitchfork, and I'll reveal to you a secret: If you make bad music, you'll get a low score, and if you make good music, you'll get a high score." Although the review of Jennie's album "Ruby" has not officially appeared on the Pitchfork site, this critic revealed that he listened to "Ruby" and felt that Jennie's album was better than Lisa's.
Notably, a Lisa fan said that Joshua Minsoo Kim expressed his xenophobia through his music reviews: "You don't like Alter Ego because it comes from Southeast Asia. No one in a sober mind can say that Ruby is better than Alter Ego."
Joshua Minsoo Kim replied: "Many Lisa fans think I hat.e Southeast Asian musicians, but I'm the only one who has ever reviewed a Vietnamese pop album for Pitchfork. I have also reviewed other albums by Vietnamese artists. You have to understand that, when you make good music, you will get high scores."
Along with that, this critic shared about the albums of Vietnamese artists who have been rated by him. In which, Hoang Thuy Linh's album "Link" received a score of 7.2/10.
