At the sentencing hearing, the jury found that defendant Phong committed a serious crime, endangering society and security and order, so a severe sentence should be imposed. After the accident, the defendant should have stayed with the victim to provide emergency assistance and coordinate with the traffic police to solve the accident, but the defendant left the victim and fled in many places. During the escape, Phong threw away the fake documents used to rent the car. Two days after the accident, Phong surrendered to the Phu Nhuan District Police Department.

The jury decided to sentence Phong to seven years in prison. The defendant must pay more than 417 million VND to the representative of the victim Thuong and 1.5 billion VND to the victim Nguyen Thi Bich Huong.

The jury also announced the cancellation of the apartment purchase and sale contract between the defendant Phong and his mother. At the same time, continue the measure of property distraint for this apartment for judgment enforcement.

After the trial, Lawyer Tran Thi Ngoc Nu, the defender of Ms. Huong's legitimate rights and interests, said she agreed with the verdict.
