Used to earn more than 1 gold tree every night

Thoai My's real name is Nguyen Thi Ngoc My, born in 1969. She entered the profession at the age of 11, under the guidance of her older sister, People's Artist Thoai Mieu. The female artist's family has dozens of brothers and sisters, but because of her poverty situation, she was born struggling from a young age. Nearly 40 years of singing is also the same amount of time she is floating with the long fate of a woman.

My career is associated with evil, fierce and daring roles. She admits that her voice and acting are more suitable for those roles than the lead role. Also because she was too immersed in the role, she received many criticisms and disparages from the audience. Instead of being sad, Thoai My considers it a proud career achievement: "Many times while filming, people call me evil, I like it very much, I like to hear someone say, 'This lady plays a role. evil or scary." To me, hearing those curse words means that my role has been successful.

American voice in real life has more or less similarities in personality compared to the roles. She is hot-tempered, straightforward, and has no respect for anyone. However, by following the Buddhist path, she gradually learned to control herself and learned to let go.

In the heyday of the profession, Thoai My once earned more than 1 gold tree per show night. The female artist said that she is proud because from her youth to the age of 50, she still has a stable show. One day, she ran 3-4 shows from early morning until late at night. Despite the hardships, Thoai My secretly thanked the Ancestors for allowing me to sing and live with a persistent profession for many years.

Health deteriorated, had to go to the US for treatment

Sharing with the media, Meritorious Artist Voice My has just returned to Vietnam a month after going to the US for medical treatment. In addition to the joy of family reunion, she can't wait to return to the stage to perform. On the last Tet holidays, she participated in the play Manh Le Quan, performed with Meritorious Artists Vu Linh, Huu Quoc, Binh Tinh,...

Thoai My said that cai luong is associated with breathing, so whether in her homeland or abroad, she still feels the pain of being able to sing. During her time abroad, she performed many shows with reformed artists such as Phuong Hong Thuy, Ngoc Dang, Kim Tieu Long, Linh Tam, Ngoc Huyen... The artists worked together and prepared well. More and more special shows, nurturing the traditional art in the country.

The female artist also recently joined the Huynh Long reform group - which helped create her name in the past. Previously, Covid-19 had robbed the main artists, causing the troupe to face many difficulties. Therefore, Thoai My wants to contribute to Binh Tinh to preserve the signboard for the troupe. Although there are more or less economic sacrifices in terms of salary, clothing, etc., she tries to reduce the collective burden and have enough money to take care of the brothers in the group.

At the age of 53, Thoai My said that her health deteriorated after many years of working. In addition to a congenital heart disease, she suffered from severe joint problems due to a previous performance accident.

"I have operated many times, but my age is getting older and weaker. Every time I perform a lot, I dance a lot, I am easy to get injured. The doctor advised me to replace my leg joint soon, if not treated in time, there will be a problem. I am at risk of paralysis, but this option may prevent me from performing classical plays. I try to go anywhere or go there, if it's the end, I have to accept it", she confided.

Although her condition does not allow it, due to her blood pressure, the female artist sometimes forgets about health problems. In a recent show in the US, when the audience requested, she performed kneeling and kneeling movements. When the performance was over, she suddenly remembered the doctor's request. After returning to Vietnam to celebrate Tet, Thoai My will return to the US for re-examination in the near future.

Over the past few years, the female artist has also actively participated in charity work. Most recently, she supported necessities and cash for a number of poor artists and backstage workers in difficult circumstances, the elderly, sick, and lonely at the beginning of the new year. "The joy of sharing love makes me find the value of life. Helping people but also helping myself in the midst of an impermanent life," she said.

Do not remarry for fear of breaking up again

A life famous for art, but Thoai My's own life has many difficulties. The female artist once had a lavish wedding with her ex-husband but ended up falling apart. After that, she went through 2 engagements and still could not be married. In the past few years, she has been fortunate to find happiness in the late afternoon with her overseas Vietnamese boyfriend.

Voice America now wants nothing more than a peaceful life. My love for her is still strong, but above all, I feel comfortable because I am not bound by marriage or the obligation to be a wife. The boyfriend understands and respects her, so both are content with the relationship of love and soul mate. She also did not put pressure on both of them about the future. For her, a person by her side to take care, encourage, and share sorrows and joys is enough.

"I'm unlucky in love, so I never thought of getting on a flower car again. If I love someone, I want both of them to see each other as soulmates, but it's good. At this age, there are things more important than a title. ", she says.

After the epidemic, Thoai My clearly felt the fragility of human life. The female artist has also changed a lot in her way of life since here. From a closed person who doesn't like crowds and just hangs around in the house, she has trained herself to be open-minded and find joy from people around.

"At any age, people just want to be happier. I like to wake up every day looking at myself fresh and young at heart. Now I know how to enjoy life more, instead of just closing myself after the storms. element of life", Thoai My shared.

Having experienced the regret of not being able to have children, Thoai My is no longer so sad or pitiful. She admits circumstances do not allow to think more about this. On the contrary, the joy from friends and grandchildren, though small, warms her heart and makes her life more meaningful.
