In the 1980s, he became one of the core members of the Sai Gon 1 Cai Luong troupe and began acting as a director. He is one of the famous "double poison" of the Cai Luong stage.

When he was still attached to the Cai Luong profession, he had many good memories with the Kim Chung singing group. In particular, there are plays with People's Artist Le Thuy.

Being cursed for acting too imprecise

Recalling the memories when acting with People's Artist Le Thuy, he said: "In the play "Failed to step sideways", I played the role of an engineer "digging", while Le Thuy played the daughter of a gold shop owner. After a while of pleasing my wife's parents, I was able to marry their daughter even though she already had a lover.

According to artist Thanh Dien, although this is a stage play and has a script in advance. However, the audience was surprised and reacted harshly to the incident.

Therefore, male artist Thanh Dien was shocked when many people scolded and protested because he thought he was "acting" their idol.

"The audience at that time was all middle-aged people. When they saw me hitting too hard, they swore and shouted my name. Hearing the curse, many people laughed too much. I knew I was acting so I wasn't afraid, continued the script, hit Le Thuy one more time, so the audience cursed again," he said.

A love story of half a century with the late Meritorious Artist Thanh Kim Hue

From a small wedding held in 1975 until now, husband and wife Thanh Kim Hue - Thanh Dien have 46 years of attachment. Both have gone through so many joys and sorrows, ups and downs in life.

Referring to Thanh Kim Hue - Thanh Dien, in addition to the enthusiasm and blood of the Cai Luong stage, the audience also admires the famous couple's nearly five-decade marriage.

Thanh Kim Hue met Thanh Dien when she was a rising star, at that time she was 14 years old. Thanh Dien is 8 years older than Thanh Kim Hue, but in her memory, he was very ugly that day.
