Artist Bui Nhu Lai was awarded the title of Young Talent in Theater in 2003 with the main role of Edip in the play Edip as a king. He was also selected to participate in the course Enhancing Human Creativity organized by David Glass Theater (UK) in collaboration with Vietnam, lasting 3 years.

This is a big turning point in the artistic career of Artist Bui Nhu Lai. The experiences from the course changed his artistic thinking. The artist said that in those 3 years, he learned more about acting skills, management skills as well as how to exploit topics that approach the social community.

Artist Bui Nhu Lai is the director of many famous plays. At the 5th International Festival of Experimental Theater in 2022, he won the Gold Medal for the play To the other shore (the work of the late writer Nguyen Huy Thiep), the Silver Medal for the play Edip as a king... Artist Bui Nhu Lai said that when he auditioned for the role of To, he was rejected by the director on the grounds that he was not suitable for the role. However, he was not narcissistic but decided to change his appearance, change his acting style to convince the director. Eventually, the role was given to him.
