Huu Do is an artist famous for his roles as a police officer on the small screen. He passed away on the evening of August 13, at the age of 90. The funeral took place on August 16 at the Funeral Home of the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Hospital in Hanoi.

According to information from his family, artist Huu Do passed away at 10:44 pm on August 13, due to pulmonary embolism and was 90 years old. He was born in 1934 in Hanoi, fell in love with art at the age of 17 and is a familiar face to theater and television lovers across the country.

In 1954, while still a student, he was chosen to play the role of Ca Khiet in the play "The Tea Cabinet" performed at the Opera House (Hanoi). In 1960, artist Huu Do joined the Hanoi Drama Troupe, and from then on continuously took on many impressive roles in plays such as: The Guillotine, The Guerrillas, the poetic drama Lam Son Tu Nghia... After that, he transferred to work at the Art Troupe of the General Department of Railways, holding the position of Troupe Leader at a young age, in charge of a professional singing and dancing troupe and a drama troupe.

Around the 1970s, the artist joined the Central Drama Troupe, now the Vietnam Drama Theater. After retiring, he appeared in many famous TV series. With a resolute and upright appearance, he successfully played many roles as a police officer, doctor, etc.

The character of the colonel in the movies "The Sower of Evil" and "Special Police 2" left an impression on the audience. He was also successful with a series of roles in "Sweet and Deceptive", "Candles in the Night", "Law of Life", "The Magic of Love", "House Rules"...

During his lifetime, Huu Do once shared that he was not picky about scripts. In his career as a veteran artist, he was associated with the roles of talented and virtuous officials or exemplary fathers in the family. His rare villain role was director Tran Dai Hoach in the feature film "The Thunder's Joke".

In his later years, artist Huu Do retired from filmmaking and rarely appeared in public. The last time he attended a major event of many generations of artists was the 65th anniversary of the Vietnam Drama Theater (2017). One thing he was always proud of was that despite changing many units, for over 50 years he has always been able to live with his love.

Artist Huu Do considers himself lucky to have worked in both theater and television during the most exciting periods. He still remembers the days when he worked at the Vietnam Drama Theater, when there were times when the play "In the Name of Justice" performed up to 4 times a day. The actors did not remove their makeup, leaving their costumes intact to take a nap between performances. When the theater fell into a state of desolation and boredom, it was also the time he retired.

In his rather large film portfolio, of which Huu Do himself "cannot remember how many films he has acted in", he also participated in many films with the theme of the Police and although more than ten years have passed, he still remembers when he played the role of the Provincial Police Director in "Awakening".

He is a straightforward, honest and dedicated director. Not only did he hold a meeting to direct his colleagues in solving the case, he also directly met with the family and relatives of the perpetrator in a serious crime to encourage and call for surrender...

He woke up at 5am to exercise regularly and went to bed early at night. He also ate very scientifically and according to rules. Recently, artist Huu Do went to the doctor and was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism, so his family took him to the hospital. He also actively cooperated with the doctors to treat the disease, but due to his old age, he did not survive.

Artist Huu Do has three children, but none of them pursue acting. In the eyes of his children and grandchildren, he is "a true artist who loves his job". "In daily life, he is a strict, proper person, never speaks harshly to anyone, and no one can criticize him for anything", said Ms. Thuy.
