Cai luong artist Do Linh's real name is Bui Cong Trinh, born in 1973, from Long An, is an artist specializing in singing vọng cổ and cải lương with the stage name Do Linh.

He is known to everyone for his singing voice quite similar to cai luong artist Vu Linh.

He works in the Southern market. He participated in the Tran Huu Trang award with artist Que Van and artist Huu Quoc in 1998, but did not win.

During his career, artist Do Linh has had songs that made his name such as: Tuong Tu Nang Ca Si, Chieu Quan Cong Ho, Chien Cong Tam Lang, Noi Toi...

However, he was unfortunately harmed and died by his homosexual lover. At that time, artist Huu Quoc shared: "Do Linh, a colleague, a very kind and gentle artist, who loved his job... According to the case file, around 2013, during an outing, cai luong artist Do Linh (real name Bui Cong Trinh) accidentally met Nguyen Cong Bao, 28 years younger than him, and feelings developed between the two.

A few days later, Do Linh went on a date and took Bao out on a motorbike, paid for his meals and bought him gifts. The dates between the male artist and the teenager continued to happen after that.

The story of the male artist often bringing teenagers to his rented house in an alley on Chanh Hung Street (District 8, Ho Chi Minh City) to play made the neighbors gossip endlessly. And here, the two slept together many times and had a relationship.

Bao then told Toan and his younger brother about his affair with the homosexual Do Linh.

Because they were short of money, the gang planned to rob the male artist.

To commit the crime, on January 25, 2015, Bao made an appointment with Do Linh to go to Bac Giang Park in Trung Son area (Binh Hung commune, Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City) with the intention of robbing property. However, when the male artist arrived at the meeting place, he could not meet Bao, so the group left.

Bao, Toan and Phuoc then discussed robbing Do Linh's property at the male artist's boarding house in District 8.

Accordingly, on the evening of January 26, 2015, Bao, Toan and Phuoc went to Bac Giang Park (District 8) to wait for Do Linh as previously arranged.

At around 7pm that same day, Do Linh came by motorbike and took Bao back to his rented house. There, after making love, Do Linh went to the bathroom when Bao suddenly attacked the male artist. The two struggled and Do Linh died on the spot.

After committing the crime, Bao was so frightened that he did not have time to take any property and ran to the rooftop, climbed over the metal roof of a nearby house, escaped outside and was picked up by Toan on a motorbike and taken back to his home in District 8 to have his wounds bandaged.

A few hours later, Bao, Toan and Phuoc were arrested by the police.

According to police records, Nguyen Cong Bao was born into a poor family and was orphaned. Bao's parents died early.

During the day, Bao cycles from District 5 to District 8 (HCMC) to stay with his grandmother to go to school. At night, Bao goes back to live with his aunt in a cramped, dilapidated apartment on Dang Thai Than Street, Ward 11, District 5.

Before the incident, Bao was a good and gentle student, so he was loved by teachers and friends.

In November of the same year, the above case was also brought to trial. At the trial, both defendants showed remorse and confessed honestly.

After hearing the account of the incident, the court asked the reason for the robbery. Defendant Bao said: "It was almost Tet so I robbed to have money to buy clothes." The presiding judge continued: "The defendant's testimony was not honest and there were contradictions in his testimony." At this time, Defendant Bao just kept silent, his head down.

The representative of the male artist's family requested the panel of judges to impose the heaviest sentence on the defendants.

In addition, the representative of the People's Procuracy also held the right to prosecute and requested the court to consider reducing the sentence for the defendant Bao because Bao's family was poor, lacked parental care since childhood, and had to live with relatives. Furthermore, part of the fault lies with the victim.

Before the verdict, both defendants were given the last word, so they cried and expressed remorse for what they had done. "I hope to receive the lowest possible sentence so that I can go to school with my friends and start my life over," defendant Bao said.

The jury determined that the incident was partly the victim's fault, the defendant's family had many difficulties, and he had not been cared for by his parents since childhood, and that he was still young when he committed the crime, so the court reduced part of his sentence. The court sentenced the defendant Bao to 10 years in prison for causing the death of two people and 2 years for robbery, for a total sentence of 12 years.

As for the defendant Toan, as an accomplice, he was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison (suspended sentence) for robbery.
