The world's largest spokeless Ferris wheel: an impressive gateway to Seoul
As revealed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG), the Ferris wheel or Ferris wheel â dubbed Seoul Ring â will be up to 180m tall, 35m higher than the current largest spokeless Ferris wheel in Shandong, China. It has no central axis or any spokes. Instead, the wheel rims have a fixed design in place, while the passenger cabins are attached separately to the electric motor to move independently, World Architecture reported on March 16.
Seoul Ring will have 36 cabins, each accommodating up to 25 people, meaning that when full, it can serve 12,000 guests per day. The concept images show that the cabins will be enclosed in a tubular Ferris wheel with the outer half made of transparent glass and the inner half steel. By using augmented reality technology, visitors can read the information displayed on the glass walls of each cabin.
The technical details of the Ferris wheel have not been disclosed, but SMG said it will consult with local and international experts to ensure construction safety and structural integrity in the design.
Bugatti's amazing tower, which can drive straight up to the penthouse
The development, located in Dubai's Business Bay as Bugatti Residences by Binghatti, is the world's first Bugatti residence.
Bugatti Residences by Binghatti targets ultra-wealthy individuals (UHNWIs), with its 43-storey apartment tower, offering 171 luxury apartments and 11 penthouses inspired by famous European coastal cities such as Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Monaco.
In particular, the 46-storey building will have 2 elevators to take the car to the private garage of 11 penthouses.
The building includes a car elevator, allowing penthouse owners to drive directly up to their residence. It is known that the project will be implemented and completed within 3-3.5 years from the time of launch at the end of May 2023.
Skyscraper with a giant cube 400m high
Foster Partners plans to design a 2-kilometer-tall skyscraper in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, New Atlas reported on May 4. The plan is backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). The building will be more than twice the height of Dubai's Burj Khalifa tower (828 m), which was completed in 2010 and is the tallest building in the world today.
The 2-kilometer skyscraper will also break Foster Partners' record for the world's tallest design to date. It is JPMorgan's Chase World headquarters in New York with a height of 423 meters. In addition to Foster Partners and SOM, several other well-known international design firms are also competing for the ultra-tall building, which is expected to be located north of the Saudi capital Riyadh, near King Khalid International Airport. However, the winning bidder was Foster Partners.
Apart from information about the impressive height and construction location, authorities did not reveal much about this early-stage project. However, the project will have to overcome many potential obstacles. For example, wind loads at such high altitudes are extremely large. Even the foundation at ground level needs to be very strong to support the weight of the building, so the construction cost will be huge.
Skyscraper twin towers like an illusion in the desert
The project, called Epicon, will focus on two futuristic towers designed to resemble a desert illusion. Reminiscent of some of the skyscraper projects in the eVolo Skyscraper Competition, or perhaps something from the works of Margo Krasojevic, the Epicon will be located on the shores of the Gulf of Aqaba, located on the northern edge of the Red Sea.
The smaller of the two skyscrapers will have a height of 225m, while its taller neighbour will reach 275m. Inside, they will have a luxury hotel with a terrace with a pool and other amenities such as a gym, library, work space and seating area. A short distance away from these two skyscrapers will be a third smaller tower (expected height unknown), which will be a beach resort and will have more hotel space and amenities. It will also include a significant amount of green space and create several terraces and terraces. In addition, there will be 45 residential coastal villas, designed to blend into the desert landscape, scattered throughout the estate.
'Infinity Bookstore' teases visitors' visuals with 'surreal space'
Zhongshuge bookstore in Chengdu is 1,300 m2 wide, containing up to 80,000 books of all kinds. Arriving here, visitors will see a fairly simple glass façade covered with welcoming inscriptions. Once inside, there are scattered lampshade-shaped bookshelves crisscrossing the dark brown lobby. The light is projected from hidden corners to make it feel like you are in a private research facility or in a scientific film frame.
The designers were inspired by the old-fashioned shape of lanterns and lampshades. However, the most "captivating" thing about the space is the "zigzag" structure of the staircase and book walls. Huge lampshade bookshelves are scattered and arranged to allow visitors to roam freely.
