Writer Hoang Thu Pho once wrote about Hoang Phu Ngoc Tuong that: "Born in Bich Khe village, Trieu Long commune, Trieu Phong district (Quang Tri), but Hoang Phu Ngoc Tuong soon chose Hue to stick with. According to family disclosures, writer Hoang Phu Ngoc Tuong has been seriously ill since 1998, though he has continued to write on his hospital bed for the past 20 years.
Most of the works in this period were published in the Nhan Talk column of Thanh Nien Newspaper. His later works include: Nhan Talk; Gluttony; The domain of beautiful girls and the collection of Hoang Phu Ngoc Tuong.
He has won many noble awards such as: Award of Vietnam Writers Association, 1980; Awarded Literature Award by the National Committee of the Vietnam Union of Literary and Art Associations, 1999, 2008; Prize A, Prize of Literature and Art of the Ancient Capital (1998 - 2003); State Prize for Literature and Art, 2007.
His passing has left great grief in the hearts of Vietnamese fans. He will always be an outstanding literary monument - his writings and poems will always be admired and remembered by people.
