- Not residing in Vietnam;

- Being prosecuted for criminal liability; having been convicted but not yet had the criminal record cleared for unintentional crimes or less serious intentional crimes; having been convicted of serious crimes, very serious crimes, especially serious intentional crimes;

- Being subject to administrative measures of being placed in a medical facility, educational facility or administrative probation;

- Loss of civil capacity or limited civil capacity;

- The persons specified in Point a of this Clause are forced to quit their jobs before the end of three years from the effective date of the decision on forced termination.

These regulations do not set conditions on the family circumstances or relatives of those who want to become lawyers. Thus, if a backpacker meets the above conditions and does not fall into one of the cases where a practicing certificate is not granted, he or she can still become a lawyer.
