Famous male journalist Ha Quang Minh has just published a long post, directly criticizing the film Southern Forest Land amid the noise that the film was criticized for distorting history. To put it bluntly, the film director was too rude.
In recent days, the fever of the movie Southern Forest seems to be hitting every box office across the country. Even though it was only released a few days ago, Southern Forest Land has already garnered a huge audience and the number of tickets sold is at the top of the charts. The revenue figure of hundreds of billions is also expected by the film crew to come true in the near future.
However, not long after its release, Southern Forest Land was immediately accused of distorting history. Accordingly, although the film is based on a Vietnamese historical story, the details and dialogue in the film are misleading, causing the meaning to be distorted. Specifically, the two names Thien Dia Hoi and Nghia Hoa Doan were mentioned in the film, but according to this, many people think of China's Qing Dynasty, which is not accurate for Vietnamese people.
Recently, journalist Ha Quang Minh also wrote an article speaking out directly about the noise in the Southern Forest Land. He directly criticized the movie and the producer for being too bad. Specifically, the male journalist shared: " When this movie was being filmed, I told 1-2 friends, "This movie is definitely good. Dung is crazy about the South, understands the South so he is sure to produce quality. Before the movie came out, just in the media, we saw controversy over the image of Uncle Ba Phi.
"I just chuckled. I thought "has anyone ever seen or met Uncle Ba Phi in real life and discussed right and wrong?" Each person will imagine Ba Phi in their own way. And Ba Phi in this Southern Forest Land is the vision of Tran Thanh and Nguyen Quang Dung. Visualization is their own right. Accepting it or not is each person's right."
"Now that the movie is out in theaters, there is controversy about the role of the Secret Society in the movie. Some people say Thien Dia Hoi, others say Nghia Hoa Doan. Arguing, arguing, only crazy Dung spoke at the press conference The idea is that "the film's setting is moved back to the early 30s and not as faithful as writer Doan Gioi's original work was after 1945".
"Crazy Dung's explanation to rationalize the presence of secret societies seems reasonable, but in fact, if the image of Nghia Hoa Doan is used in the film, I'm afraid the producer is seriously wrong. According to reality , in the South during the French colonial period, there was no Thien Dia Hoi to fight against the French. Many secret societies existed according to a similar model to Thien Dia Hoi, but there was no Thien Dia Hoi operating like that in the South. A small number of French people ( and some Vietnamese mandarins) used the term Thien Dia Hoi to refer to Southern secret societies only.
"As for the Chinese secret societies in Cochinchina at that time, three societies emerged: Nghia Hoa Doan, Hoa Xuan Doan and Nghia Hung Doan. Of these three secret merchant societies, only Nghia Hung Doan maintained the spirit of resistance to the French. Nghia Hoa Union only does business and mainly organizes casinos, whorehouses, and drug shops. Because many members of Nghia Hung Union lost money in Nghia Hoa Union's casinos, there were bloodshed between these two associations. Therefore, using the image of Nghia Hoa Doan as anti-French people in the movie is wrong."
"What's worth thinking about is even more absurd: "For what reason must we avoid the fact that the novel's setting is after 1945, when the main anti-French force was the Viet Minh? Does the producer have any political intentions when moving the scene so violently? Or are they afraid that the revolutionary atmosphere will make it difficult for the film to sell tickets? And why do the film reviewers at the National Board of Review ignore this extremely sensitive element of politics and historical truth?"
Ha Quang Minh's shares quickly caused fierce controversy. Currently, the movie Southern Forest Land has just announced that it will edit the dialogue in the movie and re-release it to the public. However, the work has more or less lost points in the public's hearts, causing intense controversy and heavily affecting the work, especially director Nguyen Quang Dung.
