HAGL foreign soldier killed in tragic incident: image of wife makes fans unable to hold back tears

The sudden death of foreign soldier - Paollo Oliveira in the tragic accident, left football fans in grief and pain. It is known that the male striker has Spanish nationality, he is loved by many people for his diverse and professional kicking style.

According to media reports, on the afternoon of August 12, a continuous accident occurred on National Highway 14 - the section through Ia Hrú commune, Chu Puh district, Gia Lai. The car carrying 4 members of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club (HAGL) crashed - sandwiched between the heads of 2 trucks. The accident killed 3 members of HAGL th* club including: assistant coach Duong Minh Ninh, doctor Tri Dao and foreign soldier Paollo Oliveira.

This information made football fans in particular and Vietnamese people in general bewildered and lamented. In it, striker Paollo Oliveira is believed to have died while on his way to Pleiku to meet his wife. Both he and his wife are also preparing their bags to return to their hometown – Brazil to visit family – after the season playing for Hoàng Anh Gia Lai.

"Paollo's family is in Pleiku City waiting for him to return after the SLNA match. They can return to Brazil or take a vacation. But it didn't happen," a choked HAGL club member told VTC News.

This information seems to be "fueling the fire" for the pain - huge loss of HAGL club, fans and especially for the wife, and the player's family. It seemed that they were about to be reunited when an unfortunate incident struck - causing everything to completely fall apart.

As soon as the bad news was received, the striker's wife Paollo was at the hospital. The pain with the striker's family is perhaps irreparable. Photos of her when she learned of her husband's death were also taken by someone and posted on social media. In the photo, the striker's wife sits distraught, her eyes puffy from crying too much; she didn't speak Vietnamese, but in a faraway country — she didn't know what to do but call her family to tell her the "evil" news.

The plight of the young foreign couple made fans feel sorry, although people could not help but send words of encouragement and comfort to Paollo Oliveira's family.

Teams, players and fans also expressed their condolences to HAGL Club, and the player's family. President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFA) Tran Quoc Tuan sent a letter of condolence to HAGL Club.

Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan expressed in the letter: " On behalf of the Executive Committee of the VGCL, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families of the members who died in the traffic accident and HAGL Club.

This is a great loss for Vietnamese football and HAGL club. The Vietnam Football Federation calls on all Vietnamese coaches, footballers and teams participating in the 2023 National Football League to turn to the families of the victims, stand with them in this difficult time and share and support.

On the case of Paollo Oliveira. The striker is no stranger to those who regularly follow the V.League. In the 2022 season, this Portuguese striker has appeared in 23 matches in Vietnam's No. 1 league and scored 8 goals - an important contribution to Hong Linh Ha Tinh's relegation.

At the end of the 2022 season, because of disagreements in extending his contract with the Ha Tinh team, the player born in 1996 decided to leave. Receiving an invitation from HAGL, he was at Pleiku Stadium to conduct a trial.

Before coming to the V.League arena, Paollo Oliveira played for 2 clubs, Farense and Estrela in Portugal. At Farense, he made 5 appearances on the grass of the Portuguese 2nd division and has not scored a goal. Before that, he scored 6 goals in 25 appearances for Estrela in the Portuguese 3rd division.
