According to a source from ABC News, citing a spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian military took control of the city of Balakliya in eastern Ukraine on March 3.
The military politics in Ukraine is receiving attention from all over the world, this is a hot event that can be said to be serious if there is no sign of stopping. And both Ukraine and Russia have their own determinations for this battle.
On March 3, fighting continued fiercely in Kharkiv when the Russian army conducted heavy artillery shelling.
The Russian army continued to dominate the battle when it coordinated with Moscow-backed separatist forces, thereby controlling the city of Balakliya in eastern Ukraine. It is known that the city of Balakliya is nearly 90 km from Kharkiv - Ukraine's second largest city.
On the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed that Moscow would continue its military operation in Ukraine "to the end". He believes that some foreign leaders are preparing for war against Russia. Therefore, Moscow will exert pressure with a military campaign in Ukraine.
Mr Lavrov also said that "Russia has no thoughts about nuclear war", and accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "of leading a country where fascism flourishes". "Without a doubt, a solution to the Ukraine crisis will be offered. A new round of negotiations is about to begin between Ukrainian and Russian officials," Lavrov added.
However, Lavrov stressed that Russia's dialogue with the West must be based on mutual respect and Moscow will not let Kiev "take hold of the infrastructure that threatens Russia". "Russia does not feel isolated politically. The question of how the life of the Ukrainian people should be determined by the people of this country" - Mr. Lavrov concluded.
Shortly after, according to Sputnik, the second round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine also took place at 3pm on March 3 (local time) on the Belarus-Poland border.
On the Ukrainian side, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kiev's goal in negotiations with Moscow is mainly to achieve a ceasefire, armistice and open humanitarian corridors to evacuate civilians. As for Russia, President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian negotiating team would be ready to continue the dialogue.
Earlier when it was assessed that Russia would occupy Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that "Aries country" did not have that intention. In a statement on February 24, the Russian leader said Moscow's "special military operation" was aimed at protecting the people of eastern Ukraine from Kiev's "genocidal regime".
In contrast, Ukraine and the West view Russia's military action as an encroachment on the territory of a sovereign state.
On the other hand, during a press conference on February 24, the Chinese Foreign Ministry dismissed Russia's actions as "aggression" when a foreign reporter questioned the matter. The ministry representative then called on relevant parties to refrain from actions, echoing Beijing's position on the issue.
It can be said that many countries around the world are still closely monitoring the current war situation in Ukraine. Because this is not only a story of fighting between two countries, it is also a matter of political spirit, economy and the effects of the "rain of bombs and bullets" on the countries involved.
In a related dimension, the escalating conflict between Russia and Ukraine has also attracted considerable attention from the Chinese public, according to the Global Times on March 1. In recent days, books about Russia and Ukraine have become bestsellers and some books have even sold out on e-commerce platforms.
Specifically, books about Russian President Vladimir Putin quickly became the most frequently searched product on the dangdang.com e-commerce platform after the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out.
The platform had to add more books and set up a waiting list for the books. Statistics from this platform show that "Putin" has become one of the 10 most frequently searched keywords.
Many people are also praying for the war to stop soon, to avoid affecting innocent people and delaying many aspects after the war. However, after many negotiations that have not come to a final result, the fighting between Ukraine and Russia is unlikely to end anytime soon.
