Specifically, right before the final night of Miss South Africa 2024, beauty Chidimma Adetshina announced her withdrawal from the contest after too many people spoke out against it.

Protesters gathered more than 14,000 signatures to express their disapproval of Chidimma's participation in the Miss South Africa pageant. They even threatened Chidimma's family.

After Chidimma Adetshina withdrew from Miss South Africa 2024, the Miss Universe Nigeria organizers sent her an invitation to return to her father's homeland to compete and Chidimma accepted the offer.

"I have received an invitation from the organizers of the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant and I am excited to inform you that I have decided to accept the invitation," Chidimma Adetshina shared on her personal page.

"I understand the responsibilities and expectations that come with this title and I am excited to begin my journey. Thank you for this opportunity and I look forward to participating in Africa's most prestigious beauty pageant - Miss Universe Nigeria," the beauty said.

Chidimma Adetshina's continued participation in Miss Universe Nigeria has received the approval and support of the audience. Many believe that if she performs well, Chidimma has a high chance of winning and representing Nigeria at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico.

Chidimma Adetshina's father is from Nigeria, her mother is from Mozambique. Chidimma Adetshina was opposed by many people to compete in Miss South Africa because they thought she had no connection to this country.

Previously, the Miss South Africa organizers accepted Chidimma Adetshina to participate in the contest because she had a valid ID and passport. However, the audience still expressed anger and attacked Chidimma Adetshina as well as her family.

"We cannot have Nigerians competing in the Miss South Africa pageant. South Africans should not be ashamed because they are doing the right thing to produce a worthy winner for the pageant," South Africa's culture minister wrote on Twitter.

Chidimma Adetshina's withdrawal from Miss South Africa 2024 has left many people regretful because she was considered a potential candidate for the crown.

The Miss South Africa 2024 final took place on August 10, Vietnam time, with the victory belonging to the beauty Mia Le Roux. She made history by becoming the first deaf person to be crowned Miss South Africa. Mia Le Roux won the right to represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2024.
