Ly Huynh My: The boss of transgender drama, twisting Quynh Chau, overconfident

Huynh My's real name is Ly Huynh Loc, born in 1994, from An Giang. After her sex change, she has a feminine, harmonious face, and according to Huynh My's own assessment, she has "the face of a beauty queen".

Besides, her tall and slim figure also gives the transgender beauty a sexy body no less than a real girl.

Huynh My is a familiar name in the LGBT community and is a prominent transgender beauty in beauty contests. She is currently a freelance model in Ho Chi Minh City.

However, Huynh My's personality is what makes her lose points from the audience. Huynh My has participated in the Miss International Queen Vietnam contest twice (2018 and 2023) and each time there were dramas related to her attitude, actions, and statements that were somewhat disrespectful to the judges.

In the first season of Miss International Queen Vietnam, Huynh My stopped at Top 15, was eliminated in episode 4 of the show. When entering the qualifying round, the contestants were asked to talk about their strengths and the purpose of coming to the show to convince the judges to give them a chance to continue. But Huynh My's answer "confident in her beauty" made everyone uncomfortable and advised her to be more restrained.

Not accepting the elimination result, Huynh My burst into tears and screamed, claiming that the show was unfair when she had tried her best. She even said that this show was "very suitable for comedians" and declared: "I will not compete in any other competition anymore".

Although she once declared that she would not participate in any more competitions, in 2023, Huynh My unexpectedly returned to Miss International Queen Vietnam - a competition that she had been angry about, believing was unfair.

The person who gave Huynh My the opportunity to enter the Top 20 this time was judge Pharmacist Tien, because he hoped this would be an opportunity for this girl to prove her change and regain everyone's sympathy after the not-so-good images in the first season.

However, from episode 1 to episode 3 of the show, Huynh My continued to annoy viewers and judges. She showed stubbornness, not following the coach's instructions but only focusing on doing what she wanted.

The climax was when Huynh My argued with coach Quynh Chau and the judges in the elimination room.

In episode 3, Huynh My was put into the elimination room by coach Thuy Tien. Huynh My was not convinced, saying that she did not deserve to be put into the elimination room because there were still weaker performers on her team.

"When I had to enter this round, I did not accept it. Because I tried very hard. I did not want to show that I was beautiful or ugly or better than anyone. I am confident because I have a beauty queen's face, but today I was made up inappropriately... I just want something here to be fair, accurate, and realistic," Huynh My said.

When coach Quynh Chau (the winning team) expressed her opinion that "attitude is more important than skill" and decided to eliminate Huynh My because of her bad attitude while working, this contestant suddenly asked back: "You said My has an attitude, what and where is her attitude? Tell me. My doesn't have an attitude, and My doesn't talk about the program."

Quynh Chau said: "No matter what problems you encounter on stage, you have to thank the support team", but Huynh My continued to express her dissatisfaction because the team always made her late compared to others. Quynh Chau shared: "Do you know that when you go to an international competition, the first thing you have to know is makeup? If you know how to do your own makeup, you don't need to rely on the team. If you rely on the team and you can't fix it, why do you blame them now?". Huynh My continued to argue: "So have you gone to an international competition yet?".

This tricky question made Quynh Chau shake her head, the judges sitting next to her were also surprised and disappointed with Huynh My's attitude.

When Pharmacist Tien - who gave Huynh My the opportunity to express his disappointment with her, this contestant had an even more shocking reaction: "I thank you for eliminating me, I thank you. Everyone eliminated me so I can live freely. Thank you so much". Immediately, Huong Giang invited Huynh My to leave the set: "Please get out of here".

Putting aside all the controversy in the contest, recently the online community has been passing around a clip of Huynh My sharing about her past of being bullied. Specifically, she said: "I was fixed a lot, because when I was little, when I went to school, I was often bullied, beaten so much that I had to get a nose job to make my face even. I think I've been through everything, so I feel like I don't want the title of Miss anymore. I'm so tired."
