More than a decade after her broken marriage with Phuoc Sang, Kim Thu's life has now undergone dramatic changes. She has risen strongly, rebuilt a prosperous life with her own hands, making many people admire her.
Brilliant career and once happy married life
Kim Thu, real name Nguyen Thi Kim Thu, born in 1978, is the daughter of famous singer Trang Kim Yen. Born into a family with an artistic tradition, she soon revealed her passion for acting.
In 2005, Kim Thu made a strong impression with the role of Hoai Thu - an important character in the journey of the male lead (played by Chi Bao), in the movie "Luc Van Tien". This was the stepping stone that made her become one of the most sought-after faces on the Vietnamese big screen.
With her beautiful appearance and diverse acting talent, Kim Thu quickly became the "box office queen". A series of films she participated in achieved high revenue and were loved by audiences, including When Men Are Pregnant (2005), Truong Ba's Soul in a Butcher's Body (2006), Surrogacy (2006), Vo Lam Truyen Ky (2007), and Hello Co Ba - the wife of the shaman "Co Ba" played by comedian Hoai Linh (2012).
Most notably, her role in "When Men Get Pregnant" has confirmed Kim Thu's versatile and humorous acting ability. Although she is no longer actively active in the arts, she still returns to the screen with a small role in "Chi Chi Em Em 2" (2023) by director Vu Ngoc Dang, showing that her passion for acting is still there.
Besides her acting career, Kim Thu and her "manager" Phuoc Sang's love story was also the center of media attention. The two were once considered a powerful couple, living in a million-dollar villa in the center of Ho Chi Minh City. Although they did not have a wedding, they still have two sons together, Phuoc Quang (nicknamed Dollar) and Phuoc Thinh.
Bankruptcy: Getting up from the "rock bottom" after divorce
Kim Thu's happy life suddenly fell apart when Phuoc Sang encountered a business incident. He invested thousands of billions of dong in real estate but lost money, leading to serious bankruptcy. The pressure of mounting debt caused the family to fall into crisis.
At the end of 2012, Kim Thu shocked the public when she announced that she and Phuoc Sang had been divorced for more than a year. She left the luxurious villa empty-handed, raising her two sons alone. Not only facing a difficult life, the actress was also repeatedly threatened and intimidated by her ex-husband's creditors.
At one point, Kim Thu faced heavy criticism from the public, who said she had abandoned her husband in his time of need. However, she explained that the two had broken up before the financial crisis struck. Even many years after the divorce, the actress was still harassed and troubled by creditors who came to the restaurant. Once, she had to file a complaint with the police to ensure the safety of herself and her children.
"Without money, I had to do many jobs to make ends meet and pay off my ex-husband's debts. I sold sticky rice and boiled chicken, doing everything myself. Sometimes, I worked from 3am to 6pm, forgetting to eat. My hands were torn and bleeding from peeling banana leaves," Kim Thu once choked up as she shared about the difficult period.
Despite her breakdown, she still told herself to try harder, because "no matter how sad or crying I am, I still have to deliver chicken and sell sticky rice." It was this extraordinary determination that helped the actress gradually overcome adversity.
Current life: Happy, fulfilled and full of courage
After many years of hard work, Kim Thu has succeeded in her restaurant business. Initially, she only sold sticky rice and food online, then with the support of her friends, she opened her own restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City. Thanks to her diligence, skillful hands and the support of many artists and audiences, Kim Thu's business has grown more and more.
At the age of 47, Kim Thu now has a prosperous life. She can buy branded items, buy cars, buy houses and reward herself with luxurious trips abroad. Although she has left the showbiz spotlight, the former "box office queen" still maintains her youthful and attractive beauty thanks to a scientific diet, exercise and self-care. She often appears with a radiant, vibrant appearance, making many people admire her.
Happily, Kim Thu's two sons have now grown up, are well-behaved and independent. The eldest son, Phuoc Quang, with an outstanding height of 1m90, has inherited many of his father's handsome features. Meanwhile, the youngest son, Phuoc Thinh, with a height of 1m84, is said to resemble his mother.
Both siblings have their own plans for the future, and Kim Thu always respects and accompanies her children. She once shared that seeing her children grow up and become independent is the greatest source of encouragement that helps her overcome all difficulties.
Looking back on her journey, Kim Thu once confided that those events taught her many valuable lessons about life. She learned to appreciate simple things, recognize the value of labor and family affection. The actress no longer places too much emphasis on fame or glory, but focuses on building a peaceful, stable life for herself and her children.
The journey from "box office queen" to a woman who rebuilt everything by herself after a broken marriage shows that Kim Thu not only possesses beauty and talent but also extraordinary courage and will. Her story is proof that success is not only measured by past glory, but also by how a person faces and overcomes challenges to continue writing her own journey.
Her current peace and happiness are the sweet fruit of her tireless efforts. Kim Thu has also become a symbol of resilience, a strong inspiration to many women, especially those who have experienced broken hearts. No longer the "box office queen" on the silver screen, her current life presents a completely different image: a woman who finds true peace and happiness in simplicity.
As for Phuoc Sang, after the incident, he suffered two strokes but luckily overcame them. The "manager" lives a private life, occasionally appearing at some events. Phuoc Sang once shared: "I lost my family because of my passion for getting rich. That was my tragedy." He also had a new life, is said to have married a second time and had more children.
Phuoc Sang is weak, he still acts in movies to make money, his ex-wife is now rich JLO07:22:19 09/08/2025A year after the stroke, Phuoc Sang reappeared on the set of Getting Rich with Ghost 2, attracting the attention of the audience.
