Artist Long Hai is known as the sister of the Diamond People's Party, having a long association with her troupe. In addition, he also acted in films, most impressively playing Ba Ran, the "biological father" of "Little Ut" Tang Thanh Ha in the film Huong Sa.
Artist Long Hai, whose full name is Huynh Long Hai, was born in 1948, originally from Long An in a family of poor working farmers. He is known as a student of the Seven Nam People's Party and a sister brother of the Diamond People's People's Party, having a long association with her troupe. In addition to acting, he also served as a film director.
In 1967, Long Hai moved to Saigon to start a business. Struggling forever without anything to do, fortunately, a friend named Viet Phuong who is a cousin of the Diamond People's Party introduced him to the troupe saying Diamond as a backstage and always mentioned it. Occasionally, he was given supporting roles without dialogue such as carrying water in and out or standing for the owner.
After a long time from behind-the-scenes work to supporting roles, one day he was called up by the Diamond People's Party to put up the script "Tea Flower Girl", assigning him to play the role of Be, the main comedy role of the play. He stood dead because this was something beyond his dreams. Luck smiled, his role was well received by the audience and resonated. Later, in the live show "Thank you for life" at Ben Thanh Theater, artist Long Hai was also very emotional when reprising this role with the Diamond People's People. In addition, he also left an impression with the role of Huong Quan Xiu in the play Durian Leaves.
When the troupe said Diamond was out of business, he moved into drama as a director for hundreds of film crews over the past 20 years. Artist Long Hai is considered one of the most expensive show directors. Typically, the works: "Weak Woman", "Taxi", "Turn", "Mother and Son", "Rhododendron in the Rain", "Countryside", "Blue Eyes", "Twin Neem Tree" ...
Sometimes when film crews need supporting roles, he participates actively and is always a solid fulcrum for young actors. Long Hai also has many roles that are loved by the audience. But perhaps the most impressive is the role of Ba Ran, the father of the character Ut Small played by "pearl girl" Tang Thanh Ha in the 30-episode drama "Silt Incense" directed by Vo Tan Binh. This role won him the Gold Medal in the 2005 National Drama Festival.
Artist Long Hai once shared that the director's work is many, even unnamed things. When it is the bond between the actors when angry, when they find the scene to shoot, even giving the crew a happy, warm atmosphere like a family. It is also because he knows that he is very "hard-working" that most producers and directors want to invite him to be the director. There were even directors who agreed to delay the shooting time to wait for him.
Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung - former Director of TFS Film Studio once commented on artist Long Hai: "The biggest thing about Mr. Long Hai is his personality, he is experienced, proficient, but when facing others, he always puts himself in a humble position, even lower. But perhaps what makes Long Hai successful as a homeroom is his attitude of dedication to his work, always living for everyone."
It is known that the last film Long Hai participated in was "Strange Project" (TFS Film Studio) and he was the director of the film "I see yellow flowers on green grass", then when the film crew closed, he suffered from a cerebrovascular accident.
In November 2016, artist Long Hai breathed his last at his home. Two years before his death, he suffered from a cerebrovascular accident, resulting in hemiplegia, and he was rushed to Cho Ray hospital by the Diamond People's People.
According to director Huynh Long Trung Nghia - son of NS Long Hai, before his death, his father was still in a normal state, by noon vomiting and shortness of breath. His mother offered to take him to the emergency hospital but he refused. By noon, he was still watching TV normally, and at about 12:20 a.m. it was discovered that he had breathed his last, at the age of 68.
The artist's son Long Hai shared: "If my father had accepted to go to the emergency room, he would not have passed away in the grief and grief of his family and colleagues."
Before the death of her close brother, Diamond People's Party emotionally said: "Long Hai and I have been together for many years on the stage of the Diamond Speaking Troupe. I am an artist who is devoted to his profession and true artistic labor. Eager to study and love to improve knowledge, the roles, no matter how difficult they are assigned to Long Hai, are excellently completed. Entering the singing profession from working as a backstage worker, secretary of the troupe, I stepped on the professional stage, with a rustic comedy charm, creating laughter for the audience through many lifelong roles. Upon learning of her passing, I was deeply saddened. The troupe said Diamond lost an artist who had dedicated his life to the stage."
At the time of the close "senior" who left his life, director Phuong Dien also wrote on his personal page: "Hearing the news, I can't believe that you are really gone! Farewell to him, a kind, gentle brother like a lump of earth, as honest as counting hearts to generations of juniors, a midwife for young directors. May he be at peace in the land of ecstasy."
