Unlike many Vietnamese stars who often "show off" their billion-dollar villas, H'Hen Nie chose a very rustic way, true to her simple personality. Despite being famous worldwide, she still firmly kept the long house next to the blazing fire in her hometown, which moved people.
For H'Hen Niê - the girl who used to eat bitter eggplant, pounded dried fish, and grew up by the fire of the long house with her mother and grandmother, that place is not only a childhood memory, but also a sustainable source that nurtures courage, self-esteem and the desire to rise up. H'Hen Niê shared: "I grew up thanks to laughter, the fire of the long house and memories that never go out. That is the place I always want to return to - no matter where I go, what I do, the long house is still the 'support' to help me stand firm on every journey".
Even though she had the means to build a new, spacious house, she still kept the traditional long house intact - not only to show gratitude to her grandparents and parents, but also to preserve the "soul" of the Ede, adding pride to herself and to the younger generation. For H'Hen Nie, success does not mean leaving her roots. On the contrary, it is the love and attachment to the long house that has made H'Hen Nie strong, inspiring and sincere.
Not only using her influence to promote the cultural values of her homeland, H'Hen Nie also actively helps donate libraries to children of the Ede ethnic group.
This is the 13th library inaugurated in the project of giving friendly libraries following the Room To Read model to students in remote areas by Miss H'Hen Nie. This library is the second library that H'Hen Nie has given to children in her hometown, Dak Lak province. H'Hen Nie said that Ea Tir Primary School, Ea H'leo District, Dak Lak Province has about 500 students, mainly children of the Ede ethnic group.
Many children have to travel nearly 30km every day to get to school. Despite the difficult circumstances and conditions, the students here still persevere in going to class, pursuing their dream of learning.
The friendly library modeled after Room To Read, inaugurated and put into use at the school, will create more conditions for children to have more space for entertainment and updating knowledge.
The library space is decorated conveniently and intimately, creating an ideal reading space. In particular, the decorative drawings on the wall were made by the school's teachers. The vivid drawings, including pictures of students in Ede costumes and typical gong images, make the library space even warmer and more familiar.
"Hen remembers one time when she went to give away a library and saw a picture of a student reading a book to his mother, at that moment Hen was really moved. Hen felt more motivated to continue to inaugurate more friendly libraries because libraries contain great value.
"Hopefully, these books will help children discover themselves, grow up and form a habit of reading" - H'Hen Niê shared. On this occasion, H'Hen Niê and sponsors presented 10 scholarships to students in difficult circumstances.
H'Hen Niê was born in 1992, an Ede ethnic in Dak Lak. She was crowned Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 and won the "Beach Beauty" sub-prize. Before being crowned Miss Universe Vietnam 2017, she was not well off. Becoming Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 helped H'Hen Niê change her fate.
She represented her homeland at the Miss Universe 2018 pageant and made it into the Top 5. H'Hen Nie's achievement is considered Vietnam's highest record in this fierce beauty pageant. After that, the beauty queen began to become famous.
H'Hen Niê is one of the most sought-after beauty queens, covering fashion events as a vedette, taking on the role of ambassador for many brands, and entering the film industry. Despite her high income, she spends most of her personal income on community projects and helping her family and relatives. While many other beauty queens often show off their houses, luxury cars, designer goods..., H'hen Niê remains as simple as ever.
