According to the indictment, Son and Thang were friends. Around 5 pm on July 14, 2019, Son invited Thang to Camelia residential park (Binh Hung commune, Binh Chanh district) to steal.

The two went to the house of Mrs. Do Thi Kim Hue (ie singer Nhat Kim Anh) in this residential area. Thang stood outside the realm, Son broke into the singer's house to get a diamond ring, 100 taels of gold, 400 million dong... the total value of stolen property was nearly 4.6 billion dong.

After taking the above assets, Son divided to Thang 400 million dong, asking Trang to sell 100 taels of gold.

Trang knew that this was a property caused by crime but still helped sell 3.9 billion VND. After that, Son gave Trang 100 million VND.

On October 16, 2019, all three defendants were arrested by the police in an emergency.

During the investigation, Son admitted that he had participated in 6 other thefts, worth more than 5 billion VND. At the same time, Son and Thang claimed to have used stolen money to gamble on social networks, but it was unclear where and with whom they beat, so there was no basis for handling.

In court, the defendants admitted the offense as charged and asked for a reduction of the sentence.

During the argument, the representative of the Procuracy proposed to sentence Son 18-20 years in prison for seven thefts, and Thang 12-14 years in prison. Relatedly, defendant Tran Thi Nha Trang (born in 1986) due to giving birth to a small child, overcoming the consequences should be considered for a penalty under the framework, with a sentence of 5-6 years in prison for the crime of consuming property. committed by others.

Defending Son, the lawyer mentioned 12 points of the case that there were procedural violations, and requested to return additional investigation files.

Specifically, in the theft that occurred at the house of singer Nhat Kim Anh, the camera identified the thief with a tattoo while Son did not. At the same time in legal proceedings, the camera was seized in the wrong order and sometimes there was no seal.

Regarding the location of Son's arrest, the records show two locations, one is in Da Kao ward, district 1, the other is in the Vinhome apartment. While in court, Son said he was arrested while staying with his wife at the Vinhome apartment that was allowed to stay by an acquaintance. In the remaining cases, the first and second cases occurred from 2013, 2014 so the attribution of Son as the perpetrator was not convincing, the Procuracy did not approve...

At the same time, the lawyer raised many inconsistencies in the clothes recorded by the camera and the testimony. Defendant Son added that he suggested reconsidering the true value of the thefts because he didn't think it was that big. The defendant disagreed with the procuratorate's claim that he was addicted to drugs because his addiction had been over for 10 years...

At noon on April 27, the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City ended the argument for the case. The jury found that the case was complicated, so it decided to prolong the sentence and was expected to pronounce it on 4-5 days.

When thieves faced the risk of imprisonment, Nhat Kim Anh (one of the theft victims) also responded. Sharing articles about thieves about to be sentenced, Nhat Kim Anh sighed: "Why should I?"
