Jessica Lane, a beauty from Australia, was crowned Miss Earth 2024 in a grand ceremony that took place on November 9 in Okada Manila, Philippines. She is the first Australian woman to win this title.
Jessica Lane was born and raised in a family that supported and encouraged her to explore a variety of interests, from arts like acting and singing to water activities like surfing and swimming. Her family has always emphasized the importance of knowledge and gratitude, which has fueled her passion for empowering others. Regular family holidays to sunny Queensland eventually led to a permanent move here, where Jessica's love for environmental protection really blossomed.
One of Jessica's most memorable experiences was when she scuba dived at the Great Barrier Reef when she was just 16 years old. Surrounded by beautiful marine life, swimming with turtles and dolphins, she realized the importance of sharing the beauty of our planet with its native inhabitants. This experience inspired her to pursue an Open Sea Diving certification and study journalism, with the goal of using storytelling to inspire others to protect the environment.
Jessica's family is very close. Her mother came from Ireland with her grandparents as a chil.d and grew up in Victoria, where she met Jessica's father, whose family came to Australia 200 years ago. Her grandmother was an artist and her grandfather was a writer, which inspired her career path and creative activities. Jessica's multicultural heritage embodies the spirit of Australia, a country of diversity.
Jessica always pushes her limits. After graduating from high school, she took a year off before starting college, during which time she shaved her hea.d to participate in the "World's Greatest Shave" program, raising nearly $10,000 and donating more than 60 centimeters of hair to make four wigs for leukemia patients. Soon after, she left home for the first time to work at K'gari (Fraser Island), one of Australia's World Heritage Sites and the world's largest sand island. Driven by a passion for exploring the world, Jessica traveled solo across Europe at the ag.e of 19, catching 18 flights in six weeks, participating in conservation activities, and developing into a passionate young activist.
Jessica is pursuing a career in environmental journalism to inspire activism through storytelling. She believes that each person can make a difference in their sphere of influence and that by uniting as a community, we can make a real difference for the planet. It's important to stay informed about local issues, but a simple way to help from home is to shop sustainably.
With the fast fashion industry responsible for more than 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions, more than air and maritime travel combined, choosing ethical and local fashion can significantly reduce emissions and support environmentally friendly practices.
Jessica is proud of Australia's rich diversity, both in its stunning landscapes and vibrant cultures. She always tries to convey this pride through her activities, from participating in conservation projects to representing the country in international beauty pageants. Jessica believes that protecting the environment is not only the responsibility of each individual, but also part of maintaining and honoring the cultural heritage of each country.
Jessica Lane is not only a beauty with an appearance but also a woman with a heart and soul for environmental protection. She has been using her platform to inspire millions of people around the world, encouraging them to take action for a greener and more sustainable planet. With her dedication and passion, Jessica is sure to continue to make a positive and lasting impact in the future.
