What makes Miss Earth, despite being criticized for its lack of fairness, still in the BIG 6?

Over the years, Miss Earth has made a lot of noise about the final results. For many years, the representative of the host country Philippines was crowned in controversy.

However, Miss Earth still maintains her position in the BIG 6 world beauty contests. This makes the audience curious what has helped the competition survive so far?

The history of the Miss Earth pageant dates back to 2001. When separated from Miss Asia Pacific International, Carousel Productions Group established two beauty pageants Miss Philippines Earth and Miss Earth to find a person who meets the criteria: beauty, intellectuals, responsibility, skills, ... participate in activities as well as propaganda and launch movements to preserve and protect the environment. Thanks to the meaning of the humane contest and creating good values for the community, Miss Earth is greatly supported.

During the first years of organization, Miss Earth has always been highly appreciated by the media for its magnificent organization, the quality of the contestants and especially for the very noble purpose of protecting the living environment. The pageant attracted 80 contestants at the 5th edition, a number that even Miss Universe took 26 years to do or there are Muslim countries - where beauty pageants are not recommended such as Afghanistan, Pakistan and even Cuba, where the government has suspended beauty pageants since the late 1950s, have sent representatives. The contest was also honored to be ranked by the Global beauties website in the group of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the world ( Grand Slam) when it was very young.

However, Miss Earth has drawn criticism since it was held in 2001. Many online users have called for a boycott of the contest, saying that the judges have favored "domestic chickens", i.e. the Philippines.

The proof is that in the 18-year history of Miss Earth, the Philippines holds the record for both the number of times it has hosted the pageant (15 out of 17 times) and the number of crowns (4 times crowned in 2008, 2014, 2015 and 2017).

Thus, if Ecuadorian beauty Katherine Espín was not crowned in 2016, the Philippines would have set a record of four consecutive years crowned Miss Earth, something that has never happened in the history of international beauty arenas.

Although honestly, most Filipino beauties crowned at this pageant are considered unconvincing by the public.

Miss Earth used to be in the Grand Slam system (the system of recognizing beauty contests organized in a large-scale, professional and influential way) and was 1 of the 6 largest beauty pageants on the planet as voted by the prestigious beauty website Global Beauties.

By 2013, this beauty arena was officially excluded from the Grand Slam system due to the constant negativity in the competition, especially the problem of the season.

Reviews from Global Beauties promptly showed a significant drop in the rankings of the once third largest beauty pageant in the world. Taking the place of Miss Earth was Miss Peace International, an emerging pageant that quickly rose in the ranks, winning the love of audiences in many places.

However, there is an undeniable fact that about the size of the contest, each year is invested very carefully. Not only that, countries and territories also send contestants back regularly every year. Like in 2023 when the competition has nearly 90 contestants.

In recent years, Miss Earth has also been gradually loved by the audience again when the final results created satisfaction with the majority of fans around the world.

In 2018, Vietnam has the first miss in this beauty arena, Phuong Khanh. In 2023, our country continues to have the first 2nd runner-up, Do Lan Anh.
