Hydra has been known to many viewers since his performance of "The Dumb Dad" at the first episode of "Rap Viet" season 1. With his deep, emotional use of words, the rapper made the whole stage choke.

Hydra's real name is Duong Tien Thanh, born in 1996 in Hanoi. Participated in the first season of "Rap Viet" and was a member of coach Karik's team. Rapname "Hydra" was chosen by him in 2016 (previously TYT) because he felt he had something very suitable for this name.

Sharing the meaning of rapname, he said: "Hydra means that a dragon has 9 heads, if you cut off 1 of its heads, it will grow 2 new heads. This symbolizes that after difficulties, obstacles or setbacks, we will always come back with double strength."

Tien Thanh started rapping at the end of 2011, when he was only in 9th grade. For him, rapping was just a temporary hobby and he didn't think he could go far with it. Until now, Hydra doesn't know if she can choose rap as her career path. But he always hoped that rap would choose him to develop well on this path.

There is a period when Hydra is quite negative, bad emotions fill the thoughts. After that, the guy found a rather interesting solution to fill his head with lyrics of 3 friends LAKE, Gonzo, CJay as a substitute for negative things.

He said that he decided to join Rap Viet because this is a playground to help Lever Up contestants (improve their level) of rapping ability a lot. "Imagine writing songs in a luxury apartment, using SpaceSpeakers beats and living with a lot of other rappers for 10 days. Not to mention hearing comments and suggestions from judges who were long ahead of them, plus being on TV," Hydra said.

Appearing in the first episode "Rap Viet" season 1, he chose to perform the song "The Dumb Dad" that made the whole studio choke. Hydra has successfully touched the hearts of the audience, MC Zhencheng as well as the powerful coaches and judges of the show with his ability to use the word "super".

The rapper's performance was picked up by all 3 coaches Karik, Binz and Suboi. When asked by MC Tran Thanh about the material that made the song, Hydra said that the story in the song he wrote is from a Thai film of the same name - The Dumb Father. He wrote it 6 years ago, because after watching the film 3 times, he was very touched and decided to create this song.

Later, the coaches also took turns making their own comments about this emotional performance of Hydra. Finally, after the coaches' words of recruitment, 2 judges JustaTee and Rhymastic decided to bring Hydra to the Karik team.

In the head-to-head round, Hydra was paired with female rapper Nul by her coach and performed "Don't" on Rhymastic's song "Rich", with the theme "Letter to You". Accordingly, the two contestants must stand in the position of parents and mothers, this letter is a mistake of the word parents want to convey to their children.

Prior to this performance, Wowy, Suboi and Binz all thought that Karik was too fastidious and risky to let Hydra and Nul choose the topic of "big hammer". However, the coaches praised Hydra and Nul for their hard work in conveying the message to the audience. As a result, BGK decided to choose Hydra to continue and Nul will stop here.

After that, Hydra did not go further in "Rap Viet" season 1, but he left a deep impression on the audience, with the image of a small birth letter but containing a vast treasure of words.

Coming out of the show, with his talent and creativity, he has become one of the prominent names in the Rap scene. In particular, after a long time in hiding, Hydra decided to return to the 3rd season of "Rap Viet" as a contestant with a different appearance.

Talking about this change, Hydra shared, "I want to keep my image in the hearts of the audience with two songs that I performed very well in season 1. Then when I come back, I'll give them another impression."

In addition to the "makeover" in appearance, Hydra also attracted attention with her performance of "Like Me From Last Night" in episode 5 of the show. He received 4 votes from coaches, along with 96% of the audience's votes.

With Hydra's commentary, MC Zhencheng exclaimed, "You have always been a smart person in the way your story is placed, very strange. I feel like you're a cinematic person in your work." At the same time, the rapper was also considered a "new breeze" of the show, with his attractive performance, he successfully attracted the attention of the judges, coaches and audience throughout the competition.

And they are appreciated for their intelligence in exploiting themes, novel musical thinking and humorous rhyming and storytelling. Finally, after some thought, Karik – the mentor who coached Hydra in season 1 – decided to bring him to Thai VG's team.

In the Head-to-Head round, Hydra "encountered" the new generation rapper To. Immediately, I came up with the idea of putting Vietnamese literature into rap songs to make it more accessible to everyone. After that, the duo decided to transform into 2 characters in Chi Phèo of writer Nam Cao to convey the theme story they wanted.

At the end of the competition, the coaches expressed their admiration for the performance of the 2 contestants. Coach Andree couldn't help but exclamation: "Once again Mr. Thai made me feel really surprised because I put 1 piece of Literature into the Hiphop song and both of you performed it very wonderfully". Put in a difficult position, the set of 3 judges are conflicted in the decision.

After considering everything, the judges came to the final decision that I will go on to the next round with coach Thai VG. HYDRA then entered the 8bars round and performed impressively, receiving the golden hat of coach Andree Right Hand.

Allowed to advance to the next round, but here Hydra was defeated by the "monster" of Thai VG coach team, Mikelodic. There are currently 3 groups left until the Breakthrough round, the judges will consider in the group of eliminated contestants to launch the Golden Hat of Power. Therefore, Hydra still has the opportunity to participate in the final of "Rap Viet" this season.
