After a period of time for fans to "stand still", YG Entertainment has officially announced that all 4 Black Huong girls will continue to renew their contracts with the company. This information quickly "exploded" the fan community.
On December 6, YG announced, "We have finalized the resolution of the Board of Directors to re-sign the exclusive group contract for all 4 BLACKPINK members, artists under the agency."
"After thorough discussions with BLACKPINK, we have signed exclusive contracts for group activities based on strong trust."
As such, YG has successfully protected the company's largest IP (intellectual property rights) at the moment. BLACKPINK will not only release a new album but also continue to embark on an epic tour with YG's support.
Yang Hyun Suk, YG's executive producer, said, "I'm happy to continue my relationship with BLACKPINK. In the future, BLACKPINK will do their best to shine even brighter in the global music market as well as as K-pop artists, and we send our unwavering support and belief in their activities."
It's unclear if the BLACKPINK members will be doing solo promotions under YG as the deal hasn't been finalized yet. There is still a possibility that YG will only manage group activity.
Currently, this information immediately attracted a lot of attention from fans around the world. Until now, Blackpink is the top girl group in Kpop with a large fan base around the world. It is difficult to find a group where all members are equal in beauty, many talents and have their own hugely successful careers.
Jennie, Lisa, Rosé and Jisoo have all released solo songs and bagged a series of records that are hard to break in K-pop. The solo products of the 4 members all set unprecedented records.
The members are also ambassadors and global ambassadors of the world's most luxurious fashion and jewelry brands. Therefore, the information surrounding Blackpink continuing to accompany each other in the future received special attention from fans.
BLACKPINK wrapped up their BORN PINK world tour this past September. This world tour project has attracted 1.8 million people and accumulated revenue of nearly 300 billion won. For this reason, even if an exclusive individual contract is not signed, YG and each member are expected to achieve huge sales thanks to BLACKPINK's group activities alone.
Since the end of their Born Pink World Tour in September, BLACKPINK have barely made public appearances together. In it, Jennie released the song " You&Me" as a gift to fans. Jisoo is said to focus on acting, Rosé still performs personal schedules.
Although there is still a schedule of music promotions, personal events and occasional social media updates, in general, the activities of the 4 girls are much less than when they were on tour. Therefore, every move related to the group, especially the re-signing situation, is of great interest to the people.
In late November, 4 girls attended a state dinner in the United Kingdom, awarded the MBE Medal of Honor by King Charles III, in recognition of the band's role as COP26 Summit Ambassadors in Glasgow 2021 in a ceremony attended by both the President of South Korea and his wife. This is a rare occasion for BLACKPINK to appear together.
