On November 14, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court held a meeting to examine the submission, access, disclosure of evidence and mediation in the inheritance dispute of Mr. Vo Van Ngoan (late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh).

At about 8:45 a.m., the plaintiff, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Nhung (younger sister of the late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh) and the defendant, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan (daughter of the late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh), along with the person with related rights and obligations, Ms. Le Thi Hong Phuong, the lawyer and a number of related people entered the mediation room.

Here, the parties were given access to documents and evidence related to the dispute, including the conclusion of the signature appraisal of the late artist Vu Linh.

Previously, Ms. Nhung requested the court to appraise the signature of the late artist Vu Linh on the adoption handover document and the adoption handover certificate book. The appraisal conclusion stated that there was not enough basis to determine whether the signature on the adoption handover document and the adoption handover certificate book compared with the late artist's signature on the sample documents were signed by the same person or not.

At today's session, the judge also suggested that the parties should propose a settlement. However, both parties reserved their claims and counterclaims.

The plaintiff requested the court to cancel documents related to Hong Loan's personal identity, including: the adoption certificate issued by the People's Committee of Phu Nhuan District on March 21, 1992 and the birth certificate issued on the same day to Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan.

Expressing her opinion on the content of the work, Ms. Le Thi Hong Phuong said: "If the evidence determines that Hong Loan is the legally adopted chil.d of the uncle, the law will protect Hong Loan. On the contrary, the law will protect my mother and uncle 7 (ie Mr. Vo Thanh Nhieu, younger brother of the late artist Vu Linh). The incident happened because the family members could not find a common voice, so they asked the law to resolve it, not intending to fight to possess it alone."

Hong Loan did not accept all of the plaintiff's lawsuit requests, identifying herself as the first heir and submitting to the court documents confirming that she is the legitimate chil.d of the late artist Vu Linh. Ms. Loan filed a counterclaim, requesting that Ms. Nhung and her children move all of their assets out of house number 5 Doan Thi Diem, Phu Nhuan district.

After the trial ended, a tiktoker - who is said to be quite close to Hong Loan and Ms. Ni (who used to be the spokesperson for the daughter of the late artist Vu Linh) said that the late artist left his daughter an important piece of evidence that decided the outcome. Previously, in June 2023, 3 months after artist Vu Linh passed away, the conflict between his relatives became fierce. Ms. Nhung and her children requested to jointly own Vu Linh's house on Doan Thi Diem Street with Ms. Loan, on the grounds that the artist had invited them to live together since 2021.

However, Ms. Loan did not agree, saying that she would sell two plots of land in Thu Duc and divide them among her family members to have capital to do business. She also asked Ms. Nhung and her children to move out of the house.

Ms. Loan stated that her father, Vo Ngoc Ngoan (real name of artist Vu Linh), was not married and did not leave a will when he passed away. She was his only daughter, so she was also the first and only heir.
