The situation became more complicated when Mr. Richard Williams, at the same time, filed a counter-suit against Dam Vinh Hung in the California Supreme Court, Orange County. The original lawsuit was 34 pages long, and by December 9, it had been extended to 304 pages. Mr. Williams presented a series of evidence, including photos and detailed information, accusing the singer of being careless, causing serious damage to the property in his house.

Mr. Richard Williams said that singer Dam Vinh Hung sent many messages asking for compensation after the accident, with the initial amount being 15 million USD in April, then reduced to 5 million USD. However, in the last suggestive message in October, the singer suggested 20 million USD and warned that "it could increase to 50 million USD", citing the pain and permanent disability suffered.

Dam Vinh Hung gave this figure with the hope that this is the amount of money he can take care of his son and himself when he is old.
