Recently, singer Duy Manh shared photos at the People's Court of Go Vap District and provided details about suing the car company related to the fire 2 years ago due to not being able to find a common voice.

The cause of the incident started from the car fire of singer Duy Manh that occurred on the evening of February 15, 2023 in the basement of an apartment building in Thu Duc City (HCMC).

At the time the Mercedes-Benz S 450 L worth more than 5 billion VND suddenly caught fire while parked, the male singer was on tour in Da Nang.

According to Duy Manh, his family called the car company's staff and hotline but received no help. Because the car was locked, the doors and hood could not be opened, so the apartment security force had to use a crowbar to pry it open as the fire continued to flare up.

"Because the fire was so big, it almost spread to other cars and there was a risk of explosion, so we had to call the police. Then it took a long time to put out the fire. Because we were afraid that the car left in the parking lot would catch fire again and spread to other cars and the apartment building, the police towed the car to the Thu Duc City police parking lot and sealed it," Duy Manh said.

After that, the police called the singer Duy Manh's family, the insurance company representative and the car company to open the seal and open the hood to check. "When the hood was opened, the inside was completely burned and black. In front of all the witnesses, the police cu.t a piece of wire to check and determine the cause of the fire. All parties present confirmed it," the male singer recounted.

Nearly a month later, the car was returned to its owner and the car company continued to bring it back to the workshop for inspection.

"When I brought it back to the workshop and opened the hood, there were a lot of mouse droppings, leaves, and trash inside. Because the car was left in an outdoor parking lot for several weeks. Later, I received a conclusion from the police that the cause of the car fire was an electrical short circuit," Duy Manh emphasized.

The insurance company then compensated the car owner 2.9 billion VND based on this conclusion.

However, the car company concluded that "the car fire was caused by rodents because there were rat droppings and garbage in the car, and there were rat bites". At the same time, they did not take responsibility for the burned car.

Disagreeing with the car company's handling, Duy Manh said that blaming rats was unreasonable, because when a car is burned black, there cannot be trash, leaves and rat droppings.

He wondered why modern cars detect and warn of even mino.r problems, but his car did not report any errors before it caught fire. Furthermore, the car spontaneously caught fire while it was parked and the engine was completely turned off.

The male singer also shared that when he asked: "What if my car catches fire and spreads to other cars, then the apartment building catches fire. Will you be criminally responsible, or me, or the mouse?" The answer from the car seller was: "The mouse is criminally responsible."

The male singer said he has filed a lawsuit against the car company in court. "After the mediation failed. The judge decided to set a date to resolve this lawsuit on April 25," Duy Manh informed.

On the car company's side, a representative of Mercedes Vietnam said that "The mouse is criminally responsible" is not an official statement of the brand. The company also did not authorize any individual or organization to represent the company to make the above statement.

Regarding Duy Manh's car fire, the company informed that when the incident occurred, Mercedes Vietnam, the distributor and related parties inspected and determined the cause of the fire, with the participation of domestic and foreign technical experts, and the presence of the car owner.

Mercedes Vietnam emphasized that the cause of the fire was due to rodent infestation, not a technical defect of the vehicle. This conclusion is similar to the assessment of the vehicle insurance company, so the insurance company agreed to pay compensation according to regulations.

The German car company added that the incident is still under legal proceedings, so apart from the above comments, the company cannot provide any other information.
