The movie Handsome Sees Wrong is currently causing a storm on social networks and is a fever at Vietnamese box offices when it reached the top 1 in revenue. Although the comedy is a bit senseless, it still contains a meaningful and profound humanistic message.
Currently, this film has surpassed many strong competitors such as BlackPink World Tour, Deadpool & Wolverine, Detective Conan: 1 Million Dollar Star to win the top spot in the Korean comedy film revenue chart in 2024 in Vietnam.
Handsome Sees Wrong tells the story of two brothers Kang Jae Pil (Lee Sung Min), Park Sang Goo (Lee Hee Joon) with innocent, carefree personalities in contrast to their rather rough appearance, they call themselves "Handsome Guys". The two brothers moved to the countryside to live the life they always dreamed of. Ironically, the two bought a haunted, dilapidated house and on the first day they moved here, a spiritual curse in the basement of the house was awakened.
At the same time, a group of young people were camping in a resort by a nearby lake. Then, unexpectedly, the two sides accidentally bumped into each other due to countless misunderstandings and that was when the disaster struck, causing many "half-crying, half-laughing" situations.
Handsome See Wrong is a "mixed pot" when embracing genres from comedy, horror, mystery and romance into one movie but not chaotic but "smooth" from beginning to end. The most commendable point of the movie is certainly the charming humorous element without exaggeration or overdoing it. Thanks to the comedic situations, the horror scenes are no longer too scary but become "inferior", more gentle to create a comfortable atmosphere when enjoying the movie.
The important factor that helped the film achieve worthy results was the solid acting of the main and supporting characters. The film brought together many famous Korean actors, especially the four "handsome pieces without dead angles" Lee Sung-min, Lee Hee-jun, Park Ji-hwan and Lee Kyu-hyung. After dominating the small screen, the "grandfather" of tycoon Lee Sung-min turned around with the villain in the series A Killer Paradox - Lee Hee-jun to create a humorous and powerful pair of brothers.
In addition, the police duo played by the "shadow agent" in "The Punisher" - Park Ji-hwan and the "drug addict" in "Prison Life" - Lee Kyu-hyung are also two "real" comedians throughout the film. With their "sealed" looks, the four actors promise to make the audience laugh from their "glowing" appearance to their hilarious antics.
Don't be too quick to think that Handsome Sees Wrong has many funny, sometimes "senseless" moments and ignore the profound message that the film conveys. The two characters Sang Gu and Jae Pil fight against the usual standards of appearance and "goodness", to conquer the audience with their sincerity and good nature placed in an environment full of hypocrisy. From here, the audience sees the message of not judging a book by its cover, not rushing to judge a book by its cover.
Continuously setting box office records, recently, "Handsome See Wrong" officially entered the top 5 highest-grossing films of 2024 in Korea. This achievement continues the success of other major films of the year.
"Handsome guy feels wrong" announced its release in theaters with two subtitled and dubbed versions. This can be considered the first time a Korean film has "played big". Right from the footage from the dubbed trailer, Vietnamese audiences expressed their delight at the pleasant but no less hilarious and domineering dubbed voices.
Following the success of "Suddenly Winning the Lottery", the subtitling team of "Handsome Sees Wrong" worked hard to bring "trendy" lines that will make you laugh out loud. The series of Gen Z words "mo xuan", "o de", "ra de" continue to bring about a sense of closeness. With the dubbed version, the audience will experience many surprises with the super smooth dubbing voice and this may be a new trend with imported films with themes close to Vietnamese audiences.
