The reason is that Mr. Cong has been disabled with 2 legs since birth because his mother unfortunately contracted severe dengue fever during pregnancy. Therefore, to overcome body complexes, facing a healthy daughter like Ms. Tam is really difficult.

Ms. Tam also revealed that the 7 older siblings in the house also constantly put pressure on her sister to change her mind. Even, to stop their 16-year-old love, the siblings came to make Sister Tam take her home. Cong's phone card and address were also forcibly left in Saigon.

However, as heaven intended, Mr. Cong decided to find a way, searched everywhere to get a mailing address, expressed his fondness to Ms. Tam. After that, he took a car from Ha Tinh to Nghe An to ask for marriage. Ms. Tam told Reporter Women: "At that time, I was both happy and afraid. Seeing him sitting and talking with his poised and frank parents, I was also somewhat more reassured. His parents were very gentle, the guests came to welcome him, told him to stay and rest, the next day made rice to invite him to eat and then talked.

My brothers and sisters also gathered in large numbers. Dad was stressed because he was afraid that his daughter would suffer and not want to marry. And their mother and some of their siblings, who were allies, said the words. At this time, I declared: If I do not marry Mr. Cong, I will stay there without marriage. I've made my choice, I'm glad I take it upon myself, I don't bother my family."

In the end, all of Mr. Cong's efforts were rewarded with a "nod" from Ms. Tam's father. Mr. Cong immediately hurriedly called his parents to prepare offerings to welcome his daughter-in-law, at this time the grandparents thought he was joking. And then came the day when the 16-year-old girl got into the flower car when she just turned 18.

She said that when she gave birth and witnessed her healthy, full-limbed first son being born, Mr. Cong burst into tears like a child. Seeing the boundless fatherly love contained in her husband, Ms. Tam left her son at home with his father and went to work to earn money to support himself.

However, this is not an easy thing because Mr. Cong with an injured shoulder has to take care of a 10-month-old child in a 10m2 motel room. But over time, he began to get used to housework and take care of his son.

Returning to Mr. Le Van Cong's charm with weightlifting, when he entered Saigon, he joined a career club for people with disabilities. When watching the "Asian Para Games" held in Hanoi on TV, seeing athletes with disabilities competing in weightlifting, he suddenly dreamed that one day he would be the same. In order to nurture that dream, Mr. Cong has constantly made efforts to practice every day and finally he has successfully realized his life's wish.

On August 23, Cong won the Gold Medal in the 49kg category at the 2023 World Paralympic Weightlifting Championships in Dubai. He is also the first Vietnamese disabled weightlifter to win a Paralympic gold medal, and also set a world record in disabled weightlifting at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Currently, athlete Le Van Cong holds a world record with a weight of 183.5kg set from 2017. Before that, he also set a world record in 2014.
