Right from the ag.e of 15, when she was still studying at Gia Long High School for Girls, Hoa Mi started singing. She signed up to join the Breeze Choir and performed with everyone on stage as a way to relieve sadness.

Here, she was suggested by musician Doan Chinh - the son of musician Doan Chuan to enter the first vocal department of the National School of Music. Musician Doan Chinh was also Hoa Mi's first music teacher, before she had the opportunity to meet musician Hoang Thi Tho and completely change her future.

During her studies at the National School of Music, Hoa Mi often appeared on television with the band Gio Khai and the school's band. Not only that, she also often joins the Lac Hong band, specializing in singing choruses with the national instrument orchestra. At this time, she is still active with the stage name Truong My (based on her real name Truong Thi My).

Appearing many times on national television, Truong My's voice was lucky to catch the eye of musician Hoang Thi Tho. Introduced by singer Bui Thien, Hoa Mi had the opportunity to meet musician Hoang Thi Tho for the first time and almost burst into tears when she heard him comment: "I've seen you sing on TV and love your voice. If you promote me to become a career singer now, what do you think?"

From here, she officially became a student of musician Hoang Thi Tho and was renamed Hoa Mi by him, with the introduction of "a new bird in the sky of Vietnamese music".

It seemed that Hoa Mi's singing career would be more and more sublime under the guidance of Mr. Hoang Thi Tho. But in 1975, an incident struck when he led some of his students to Japan to tour and then wandered away in the country. Hoa Mi belongs to the other group active in the country, but only 1 time later the group also disbanded.

Thinking that her singing career was over, Hoa Mi decided to continue studying law, opening up another opportunity for herself to make a living. Not long after, musician Ngoc Chanh went to her house to find Hoa Mi and invited her to participate in a musical program in the Diamond Speaking Troupe.

During the process of working with the Diamond troupe, Hoa Mi had the opportunity to meet and work with saxophonist Le Tan Quoc and gradually developed feelings for each other. After 6 months of dating, Le Tan Quoc proposed to Hoa Mi and received from her a nod of agreement.

Singer Hoa Mi is the youngest daughter in the family, so she is very pampered by her parents. But at the ag.e of 11, she had to go through the pai.n of losin.g her father and 6 years later had to say goodbye to her mothe.r. Perhaps it is also because she has experienced great losses since she was a chil.d, that Hoa Mi always longs to have a happy family, always ready and resigned to efforts for her family.

She risked getting married when she was too young and her career was still not stable, the married life of Hoa Mi and her husband fell into an extremely difficult situation. The lack of mone.y has caused all 3 of Hoa Mi's children to be malnourished and suffer from pulmonary tuberculosis.

At this time, the congenital eye disease of artist Le Tan Quoc is getting worse and worse. 2 years after coming to France, Hoa Mi was happy to be able to welcome her family to France to reunite, Hoa Mi received sad news when the best French ophthalmologist could not save her husband's eyes.

At this time, Le Tan Quoc fell into a stalemate because he could not integrate into his new life, realizing that he had only become a burden to Hoa Mi in his country. He and Hoa Mi, after many times sitting down and talking to each other, decided to break up, although they were still extremely attached in their hearts.

After marrying her new husband, Hoa Mi had to temporarily leave the spotlight and retire to become a backstop to support her husband. She helps her husband manage housework and raise children so that her husband can rest assured for business.

In recent years, Hoa Mi has been working hard to go back and forth between France and Vietnam and actively participate in many programs and contests as a judge. It can be seen that, at the ag.e of 60, although her singing voice is sometimes no longer as holy as in her youth, Hoa Mi is still a name that is extremely loved and awaited by the audience.

Recently, at the funeral of actor Quy Binh, the famous singer Hoa Mi quietly came to visit and cry in front of the photo. Quy Binh's funeral was held privately and solemnly. The visiting delegation was strictly controlled, and the security team constantly reminded them not to use their phones.
