During the 100th anniversary of the death of the late Artist Ngoc Trinh, Cong Ninh could not hide his emotions. He hugged Ngoc Trinh's biological mother tightly and had words to share that made everyone choke up after listening.
The 100-day dedication ceremony of the late NS Ngoc Trinh took place in a solemn and emotional atmosphere. The ceremony was attended by parents, relatives and close colleagues of the female artist, including Huu Tien, Hong Trang, Huynh Tinh Van, Hoa Hiep, Ba Thang. In particular, Artist Cong Ninh, who has had a long time accompanying Ngoc Trinh both in art and life, was also present to light incense in remembrance.
For about an hour, families, artists and monks chanted prayers for the female artist's spirit. The solemn scene blended in the echo of the scripture, making many people unable to hold back their tears. After the ceremony, everyone sat down to eat vegetarian rice, sharing stories and memories about Ngoc Trinh.
The moment that touched many people the most was when the mother of the late artist Ngoc Trinh held the hands of Cong Ninh and artist Huynh Tinh Van and burst into tears. She choked up because the pain of losing her child was still too great, especially when Ngoc Trinh passed away at the most beautiful age of artistic maturity. In her red eyes, she just sobbed: "My child is very talented... but heaven doesn't let me live long."
Unable to hide his sadness, Artist Cong Ninh shared in front of everyone: "When I was 52 years old, I also had a violent illness and seemed unable to overcome it, fortunately I still had a chance to live. And Trinh... passed away at the age of 52. Many times when I remember the 49-53 curve of human life, I don't know how to explain it." His voice choked up, the corners of his eyes were red when he thought of his friend, student and part of his youthful memories.
Exactly 100 days ago, at 7 p.m. on September 1, 2025, Ngoc Trinh's family announced that the female artist had died due to a stroke. That news shocked colleagues and the audience, because before that, Ngoc Trinh was still working hard, teaching and participating in artistic activities. Among the most shocked people was Artist Cong Ninh. At that time, he admitted that he could hardly believe the truth: "I haven't seen Trinh for a long time, but recently I was a judge in a contest. She was much thinner, but I didn't feel comfortable asking. But now it's like this."
According to Cong Ninh, despite her weak physical strength, Ngoc Trinh is a person with a strong will and extraordinary energy. She always carries a strong passion for art and rare perseverance. That is also what makes those who have worked with her always respect and love.
At the ceremony, Ngoc Trinh's close friends artist Huynh Tinh Van and Artist Cong Ninh shared memories of the late artist. "I have been playing with Ms. Trinh since 2017, when the two sisters were in a directing class together. She is a very emotional person but does not want others to bother with her. No matter how many ups and downs she has gone through, she still exudes optimistic and positive energy," Tinhvan said.
Referring to the career of Artist Ngoc Trinh is referring to a brilliant journey. She used to be a bright star of the southern stage and screen. The Vietnamese-Korean cooperation film called "The Smell of Cilantro" brought her name to nearly a million viewers, becoming one of the most memorable marks of the 2000s.
After breaking up with her Korean husband, Ngoc Trinh lived alone, quietly working, teaching and dedicating herself to art. Currently, her mother and sister live in the US, while her father and brother live in Vietnam.
