After the BLACKPINK concert ticket distributor in Vietnam officially opened for sale, the YG group's fan community went through many emotional states to own the tickets in hand.
The online community competes to "pass" tickets with high prices, making BLACKPINK fans angry
On July 7, at 12 am and 3 pm, tickets for Blackpink's Born Pink tour in Hanoi were officially opened for sale online.
According to the information announced by the organizers, fans can buy tickets for the first night at 12 pm. However, at about 12:15, the ticketing page was operating normally.
The two lowest ticket classes, CAT 5 (VND 1.2 million) and CAT 4 (VND 1.8 million), were quickly sold out after only 10 minutes. Next, the VIP ticket class priced at 9.8 million VND was also announced.
According to the survey, at the Blackpink concert swing group (World Tour 2022-2023) - a place to share the experience of going to concerts (performances) of Korean girl groups, many buyers are transferring tickets at different prices.
For faraway seats such as CAT 2 (5.8 million VND), CAT 3 (3.8 million VND), tickets are sold at a higher price of 200,000-500,000 VND.
CAT 1 sitting area (6.8 million VND) is also advertised with a difference of about 200,000-500,000 VND. The CAT 1 standing area (5.8 million VND) was transferred at a higher price than the original price of about 200,000 to 700,000 VND.
In the Platinum seating area (7.8 million VND), this type of ticket costs more from 700,000 VND to one million VND. With the VIP area with the original price of 9.8 million VND, it is currently being resold at various prices, ranging from 11 to 17 million VND.
In particular, the two farthest and cheapest sitting areas, CAT 4 (1.8 million dong) and CAT 5 (1.2 million dong), are quite "scarce", the least re-sold.
BLACKPINK fans were "shocked" when they received the news that the payment for tickets was not successful at midnight
After the "storm" of buying tickets at noon on the afternoon of July 7, many people thought they had a ticket for the BLACKPINK concert in their hands. However, until the evening of July 7, some fans received an email saying that the payment was unsuccessful - meaning that the concert ticket has not been purchased and will receive a refund within 7-14 days. This information made many BLACKPINK fans "shocked" because they thought they had bought a ticket but actually had a payment error.
However, when the BLACKPINK fan community receives this email, please carefully check the unsuccessful order cancellation code and the order code is the same. If not, you can be completely assured that receiving this email will not be related to the e-tickets already owned.
Again being compared to Taylor Swift concert
In contrast to Blackpink's ticket sales chaos, Taylor Swift's concert, although it is difficult to find tickets, fans feel satisfied when they put in effort and money to own a ticket.
Accordingly, millions of Southeast Asian fans of Taylor Swift are scrambling for a limited number of tickets. Many die-hard fans have put their jobs aside, charged their electronic devices and queued up to win their coveted tickets.
Many people even go to WhatsApp, TikTok and Twitter to share online ticket buying strategies that include logging in ahead of time, maybe even a day in advance. Meanwhile, groups of friends aim for different dates and seats so they can maximize their chances.
Some even took a day off work or canceled their schedule for the whole day just to focus on buying tickets. Others use multiple devices and wait to see which device - laptop, tablet or mobile phone - gets to the online ticketing counter first.
But many "Swifties" across the region were unable to purchase tickets, in part due to a spike in demand for performances and entertainment in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Reuters news agency (UK) said that demand has led to higher prices, which some economists have called "Swiftflation". The Business Times reported that flight and hotel prices spiked during the week Taylor Swift performed in Singapore.
In June, LiveNation Singapore said similar "overwhelming demand" was also recorded for British band Coldplay. The band has added three more concerts in Singapore and in the coming months will perform one night in Jakarta (Indonesia), Bangkok (Thailand), Manila (Philippines) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
Mr. Pita Limjaroenrat, leader of the Progressive Party (MFP) and candidate for Prime Minister of Thailand even posted on Twitter calling for Taylor Swift to come to Bangkok to perform.
