Singer Minh Phuong: Once wanted to quit singing, was helped "reborn" by 1 People's Artist

Seeing Minh Phuong full of vitality, enthusiasm, passionate about the melody and lyrics on stage, few people thought that not long ago she had a long time feeling that choosing to pursue a singing career was... a mistake.

Minh Phuong was born in 2003, from Hung Yen, currently living and studying in Hanoi. She grew up in a family with an aunt and uncle who pursued art, so since childhood, Minh Phuong has lived in an artistic environment, soon being absorbed in traditional folk songs such as drums, cheo...

Minh Phuong has had a talent for music since childhood, when she went to school, she was always a literary seed in school, so her parents soon oriented her to art. In grade 9, Minh Phuong took the exam to enter the Intermediate system of the Vietnam National Academy of Music but did not pass, she returned to "revenge", the next year she took the exam again and was in the top 3 exams that year.

I thought that such a path to pursue art was favorable, but unexpectedly, after studying for a while, Minh Phuong suddenly ... I feel lost in the middle of the art environment, always thinking that I have chosen the wrong profession.

"That mood made me feel depressed, I just lay down and slept every day, I was not eager to study, I was always lost among my classmates in class, I couldn't get along. Many times I have asked my parents if I ever chose the wrong profession? My parents are also very "afraid" of me, worried a lot, but they only know how to encourage me to try," Minh Phuong said.

Looking back on that journey now, Minh Phuong thinks it may be due to the psychology of adolescence, because when she entered the school, it was too difficult compared to her initial idea of learning vocal music, but mostly because she felt that she did not have the quality to be an artist like her teachers. artists she meets every day.

The young girl always keeps in mind that being an artist is not enough to have a voice, she must also have the demeanor of an artist. She admits that she lacks that again. That boredom made Minh Phuong more and more withdrawn, afraid to communicate, always bowed when talking to others, often living in a state of confusion and confusion about the road ahead. There were times when she wanted to give up her studies to become a professional singer.

It was in that moment of frustration that Minh Phuong happened to meet People's Artist Nhat Thuan, Captain of the Military Zone 3 Literary Troupe on an occasion to perform to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Victory of Dien Bien Phu in Dien Bien for Hung Yen province. That day, Minh Phuong sang the song "Memories of the Stork" which made a strong impression, causing People's Artist Nhat Thuan to find Minh Phuong and invite him to collaborate with the Military Zone 3 Literary Union currently stationed in Hai Phong.

It was the interest and love for the talent of People's Artist Nhat Thuan that was like "rebirth" of the love for art in Minh Phuong's person. The young girl at that time realized that she was really capable, it turned out that she could be a singer. And so she accepted the offer to collaborate with the Military Zone 3 Literary Troupe, finding excitement in studying and striving.

Loving Minh Phuong's talent, People's Artist Nhat Thuan wanted the young girl to go further, so she immediately entrusted Minh Phuong to Artist To Nga to guide and train more by participating in music contests, starting with the Hanoi Good Voice Contest 2024. Minh Phuong shared, if People's Artist Nhat Thuan "reborn" the love of music in her heart, then Artist To Nga helped her hold her head high and step forward on her career journey.

With extensive experience, meticulous and even harsh training, from practicing for the exam, to requiring hard exercise every day to improve the physique, and then finding a designer to build the shape,... Artist To Nga helps Minh Phuong be confident in herself, bold in communication, and ready to win herself.

In particular, the meeting with People's Artist Nhat Thuan and Artist To Nga helped Minh Phuong find her path in music, which is to pursue folk music. At school, Minh Phuong studied chamber music and she always found it difficult to succeed.

When she switched to folk singing, Minh Phuong's love for traditional music and folk music from a young age was like a source that was opened and flowed abundantly in her veins, helping her sublimate in the Hanoi Good Voice Contest 2024, becoming the only contestant of the Folk music genre to reach the top 12 finalists.

"On the way I walked, looking back, I also had good luck. At school, I received guidance and training from teacher Dao To Loan, who gave me a background in vocal music. Now I am guided by People's Artist Nhat Thuan and Artist To Nga, two teachers who have guided me and given me confidence in myself, overcoming inferiority, guilt, and being ready to conquer the road ahead.

During the Hanoi Good Voice contest, I was also given valuable advice by Artist Tan Nhan, Dean of the Vocal Department, in how to express my work, helping me make breakthroughs. All of these things have become a motivation for me to strive now and in the future," Minh Phuong shared.

Minh Phuong is completely satisfied with the results of the third prize of her Hanoi Beautiful Voice Contest 2024. This award is not only meaningful to her in terms of career, but also especially important when she helped Minh Phuong completely "transform" from a girl with low self-esteem, guilt, to become confident, brave and... not afraid of any challenges, ready to conquer new milestones.

In the future, Minh Phuong will continue to "fight" at the Hanoi Singing Contest 2024 and two teachers, People's Artist Nhat Thuan and Artist To Nga, are always standing side by side to support and raise the step for a young talent.

"Minh Phuong is talented and intelligent, learns very quickly, when she practices better day by day, although she is young, she has a serious and diligent working attitude, I think as long as she "explores" in the right direction, she will definitely go far." Artist To Nga affirmed.

Minh Phuong is currently working hard to prepare for the final round of the Hanoi Singing Contest at the end of December.
