BLACKPINK 'out of sight, out of mind', Jennie made a phone call, revealin.g the real relationship?

Over the past year, BLACKPINK members have focused all their attention on solo activities, while Rosé, Lisa, and Jennie have all focused on music production, while eldest sister Jisoo has prioritized her acting career.

As the members have spent more time apart, it's no surprise that some have questioned the group's relationship with each other during this time. After Lisa was criticize.d for allegedly not being supportive of her fellow members, the idol appeared to directly respond to the accusations.

Jennie recently spoke directly about the relationship between the group members. Jennie is reportedly preparing for her solo album, which will be released this year. Previously, the singer released the album's pre-release single, " Mantra," and is currently promoting her next release. The BLACKPINK member recently sat down with Billboard as the magazine's cover artist for its January issue, where she talked about her work on the album.

Billboard introduces: "The world knows Jennie from Blackpink, but with her long-awaited debut album, she finally truly understands and shows her true self." In an interview with Billboard, the singer shared about the process of producing her solo album.

In December 2023, she announced her own independent record label, Odd Atelier (commonly known as OA). In early 2024, Jennie began her album journey in Los Angeles - where 99% of her project was completed.

"It's a long process because American artists usually take a few years to make an album, but we have a limited time, because this year she has to come back with Blackpink," said Alison Chang, OA's global business director and Jennie's "right-hand man".

Jennie said she feels "more free" in Los Angeles than in her hometown of Seoul, South Korea: "I can definitely go out and eat whenever I want, wherever I want.

I learn so much from everyone here. It's a great environment, especially for people in the music industry, to meet people who can inspire you."

Speaking about her upcoming solo album, Jennie shared, "I plan to perfect myself as Jennie Ruby-Jane, to become a well-rounded person, in a way.

You'll definitely see what I mea.n when the album comes out. I'm playing with different genres and elements - I rap here, I sing here, I harmonize here, I speak here... I want to make sure that I like every song on the album.

I don't want to be forced to put a song on my album, that's something I really struggle with. And I'm lucky to have all these people who believe in me and support me, so I can get to a point where we're like, "Oh, I think we're ready."

Jennie also talked about BLACKPINK, both musically and personally, and how they interact with each other these days. The idol said that although they are all very busy, they still make time to check in on each other when possible and celebrate each other's wins.

"We're all so busy with life. Obviously we can't call each other every day. Even though we know we can't see each other as much, it really doesn't feel any different than other years because we know we're here for each other.

They're literally just a phone call away. And at this point, we're very respectful of each other's space. So if there's anything to be excited about, to celebrate, we're all in this together," Jennie said.

The SOLO singer also talked about BLACKPINK's upcoming plans, which include a new album and a world tour: "I miss the girls. I miss touring with them. I miss our silly moments. I'm excited to see what everyone brings. You know, everyone's on their own journey during this time, and I'm excited to share that with the girls. I want to say it's going to be the strongest (version) of ourselves that anyone has ever seen."
