According to Korean media, Billboard announced that TWICE's new mini album " Strategy" debuted at No. 4 on their popular Top 200 Albums chart, which ranks the most popular albums in the United States.
With this achievement, TWICE has become the first K-pop gir.l group to surpass Blackpink and Red Velvet by having 6 different albums enter the top 10 of Billboard 200. The group previously entered the chart with "MORE & MORE", "Eyes wide open", "Taste of Love", "Formula of Love: OT=<3", "BETWEEN 1&2", "READY TO BE" and " With YOU-th".
According to Luminate (formerly Nielsen Music), "With YOU-th" totaled 88,000 equivalent album units for the week ending December 12. The album's total includes 81,000 traditional album sales â making it the second-best-selling album of the week in the US â and 6,500 streaming equivalent album units (SEA), which translates to 8.86 million on-demand audio streams during the week.
Will BlackPink's declining popularity affect the group's comeback plan in 2025? On YG's website YG Life (a website specializing in reporting news about artists' activities), YG said: "Last year, BLACKPINK signed a full group activity contract with YG ENTERTAINMENT and overcame the "seven-year curse. Although the members are active individually under ODDATELIER ( Jennie), BLISSOO (Jisoo), LLOUD ( Lisa), and THEBLACKLABEL (Rosé), their activities as a complete group will continue under YG."
YG added in the post: "If this year is the year of the members' solo activities, next year, they will create a global earthquake as BLACKPINK. The combination they show as a complete group is highly anticipated. Especially after finishing the most recent world tour with a huge audience of up to 1.5 million people."
In addition, YG also emphasized: "Although the crisis mentioned was due to the dependence on BLACKPINK and the unsuccessful renegotiation of the members' solo contracts, the impressive activity plan in 2025 has dispelled these concerns."
In addition, Jennie and Lisa's musical achievements after BlackPink split up are also the focus of netizens' attention when compared.
After moving to solo activities, BlackPink recently has Jennie and Lisa releasing music products. Meanwhile, Rosé and Jisoo are mainly active in fashion, advertising, and acting. Jennie and Lisa continue to affirm their position in the music industry with music products that attract a large international fan base.
Lisa released the MV Rockstar, which is Lisa's first solo MV after leaving YG. As of now, the MV has reached over 77 million views on YouTube and topped music charts in countries such as Australia, UK, France, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and South Korea. According to The Korea Times, Lisa's song Rockstar cannot be considered a K-pop song in terms of both music and production.
On the other hand, Jennie's collaboration song "One of the girls" with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp has surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify. Zico's song "Spot!" featuring Jennie has also achieved some success globally. In the less than 3-minute MV, the female singer only takes on a short rap part.
The most impressive achievement in the BlackPink group probably belongs to Rosé. According to the latest announcement by Billboard, the song "APT." by Rosé (Blackpink) and Bruno Mars has topped the two global charts Global 200 and Global Excl. US (globally excluding the US) for the 8th consecutive week. Rosé officially broke Jungkook's (BTS) record, becoming the Asian artist with the song topping the Billboard Global 200 chart for the most weeks in history. Jungkook's song "Seven" had topped the chart for 7 weeks.
Additionally, Rosé's album "rosie" debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200 - the weekly chart of the most popular albums in the US. Rosé is the highest-charting female Kpop solo artist on this chart.
