The online community has been extremely confused in recent hours when a series of hits from BLACKPINK, BTS and many other Kpop idols have simultaneously been "disappeared" from the TikTok platform. The reason is because of copyright issues.

In early 2024, social networks were abuzz with the news that Universal Music Group (UMG) removed all songs from singers and musicians signed to release from the TikTok platform. On the afternoon of February 27, Kpop fans were once again "heartbroken" when the hit songs of BLACKPINK, BTS and a series of Kpop groups had their audio removed due to copyright issues.

More specifically, almost all of the songs of the four YG girls, including their solo songs, have "evaporated" on TikTok. When accessing BLACKPINK's channel, 90% of the videos have had their sound completely removed.

Jungkook's two songs "Sound Standing Next To You" and "Seven" also encountered a similar situation. A series of videos using the sounds of these two hits on BTS and the male idol's channel on TikTok have all been muted. In addition, when accessing the channel, netizens also discovered that many songs have been removed from the platform.

Not only BLACKPINK or BTS but also some other music groups such as: NCT, TXT, TREASURE, NewJeans have also had the sound of many hit songs removed on TikTok. Before the incident, the online community humorously said that surfing the TikTok channels of current Kpop groups is like a "land of silence".

Currently, many Kpop fans are expressing concern that this platform will soon "touch" their idol's channel and remove all audio of songs with copyright issues.

Universal Music Group (UMG) caused a stir in the music industry with its official announcement to remove all songs from singers and musicians signed to release from the TikTok platform.

As the world's largest record label, UMG releases a huge music store with today's most popular artists such as: Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Adele, Drake, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Rosalía, Harry Styles,...

The fact that the two giants are "at odds" with each other has become an extremely hot topic among the music lover community. Not only USUK star fans are confused, but even Kpop fans are worried that their idols will be affected when UMG withdraws their music from TikTok.

With a focus on music and dance, the fact that Kpop groups are not allowed to push dance challenges on TikTok will be a serious shortcoming in reaching the public.

In the Vietnamese market, some artists such as: tlinh, MONO or Wren Evans,... have also encountered cases where their songs "disappeared" on TikTok because of UMG's withdrawal order.

Coming back to BLACKPINK, even though they lost the way to reach the public, TikTok, the group still has a place to thrive, which is YouTube. The 4 girls have a series of records on this platform even without releasing music products.

The proof is that BLACKPINK's YouTube channel has just marked a new milestone in the music industry when it surpassed 93 million subscribers (about 7 years and 8 months since the channel opened), becoming the first artist's YouTube channel to achieve this. .

It can be said that BLACKPINK's dominance on music platforms is undeniable as in recent years, the group's channel has become the most viewed artist channel in YouTube history. Specifically, the 4 Black Girls are the first Kpop artists on this platform to exceed 34 billion views (as of now, February 2024).

BLACKPINK's song "Pink Venom" maintained its position as the most viewed music video by a Kpop group in both years (2022 and 2023). This is a good sign for fans because even though the group's album output is small, their songs are still a huge success, still have value every year, showing an amazingly stable performance.

If the 4 female idols continue to maintain this form, they can once again dominate the YouTube platform by 2024.
