Until now, many Vietnamese people have often heard the names of the 18 Hung Kings. However, many people do not know the existence of the 19th King Hung. So who is the 19th person that is rarely heard of?
The first dynasty of Vietnam is identified as the Hung dynasty of Van Lang country. At that time, our country had a total of 18 kings, all of whom were titled Hung Vuong. Every year, Vietnamese people still promote the spirit and tradition of "when drinking water, remember the source" by organizing the death anniversary on the 10th day of the third lunar month.
Many people may not know, the number 18 reigns of Hung King is not completely correct. 18 is most likely just an approximate number, a multiple of 9, a sacred number according to Vietnamese beliefs. There is research showing that there were actually 19 Hung Kings. This 19th King is rarely mentioned because he only reigned for 6 years before passing away, so today there is rarely evidence to prove the existence of the last Hung King. end of the Van Lang state.
In the legends of the Hung Kings, there is usually only information about the last king, known as Hung Due Vuong, the 18th Hung King. He is known as the father of two royal princesses, Tien Dung and Ngoc. Hoa, who is praised as elegant, dignified and possessing extremely beautiful beauty. On the other hand, there are historical sources recording that Hung Due Vuong actually had a large brood of children, including both men and women, but unfortunately most of them passed away at a very young age, except for the two princesses. : My Chau Tien Dung, who later married Chu Dong Tu and became immortal, and My Nuong Ngoc Hoa, who became the wife of Tan Vien Son Tinh.
According to records found in Vi Cuong commune in Phu Tho, there is a passage depicting the period of King Hung Due Vuong and mentioning the successor king, the 19th Hung Vuong. In it, Hung Due Vuong was transferred power to his eldest son, Hung Kinh Vuong. However, unluckily, Hung Kinh Vuong only reigned for 6 years before passing away. This led to King Hung Due being crowned once again. Later, due to age and declining health, he finally decided to cede the throne to his son-in-law, Nguyen Tuan, who is also known as Son Tinh.
Legend records it as follows: "Initially, the throne was given to the eldest son, Kinh Vuong, who ruled for 6 years before his death. After that, power was assigned to his son-in-law, Tan Vien Son, who took on the responsibility of regent, continuing his father's career in managing the country. After 10 years, father and son together transformed into superior immortals, understood morality, and became great farmers. immortal throughout the ages. Finally, the throne treasure was passed on to Thuc An Duong Vuong, who ended the Hung Vuong dynasty, belonged to the royal family of the previous emperor, and was the 16th generation grandson of the Ministry. Lord tutor."
Information about Hung Kinh Vuong, the 19th Hung King, is extremely limited because he only ruled for a short period of 6 years. Details from real name, date of birth and death are not clearly recorded. However, in folk legends, fascinating stories about him are still passed down and retold through generations.
Legend has it that Hung Kinh Vuong is the person associated with the famous idiom: "Horses know the old ways". According to legend, in the Ke Doi region there is a tribe that owns a beautiful and very valuable horse. One day, the Bo Chinh of the area discovered that horse and became greedy, wanting to take it for his own.
The tribe lost their horse unjustly so they went to Hung Kinh Vuong to seek justice. However, both Lac Dan and Bo Chinh insisted that this was their horse. In the end, the 19th Hung King had to keep the horse and let the two of them return home first.
That afternoon, King Hung the 19th released the horse and had his men follow the horse closely. After being freed, the horse did not hesitate to run as fast as possible back to Lac Dan's house. From there, Hung Kinh Vuong found out the truth that the horse belonged to Lac people, not Bo Chinh. The above story contributes to praising the intelligence and virtue of the 19th Hung King. Up to now, the saying "Horses get used to old ways" is commonly used to refer to habits that are difficult to change.
One time, Hung Kinh Vuong used his intelligence to solve a case. A craftsman and his son were walking through Ke No area when they were suddenly attacked. The father unfortunately fell for the trick and was harmed, while the son was lucky to escape death. After escaping, the son returned to the scene but could not find the father's body. When news of this incident reached Hung Kinh Vuong's ears, he ordered the arrest of everyone living around the area where the crime occurred and the seizure of all items made from copper and iron, including knives. , find items from their homes, and at the same time clearly identify the owner of each item.
The king ordered his soldiers to catch a large number of flies, then placed a clot of blood collected from the victim to attract them. Not long after the above mentioned items were presented, a cloud of flies gathered and landed on a knife. Realizing this, Hung Kinh Vuong immediately detained the person who owned that knife. Under pressure, this person could not keep calm and quickly confessed his crime, and revealed where the victim's body was hidden.
Besides the two stories already told, people also preserve and spread many other anecdotes about the 19th Hung King. Although he is not often mentioned in legends or myths, he still left his mark. deeply embedded in the folk consciousness.
