According to the expert, in addition to the prison sentence, the court did not prohibit Ms. Hang from practicing after completing her sentence. The time limit for expunging the criminal record will be implemented according to the law.

Thus, depending on the needs and decisions of the enterprise, Ms. Hang can return to manage the enterprise or not, without being restricted by law.

Looking up on the National Business Registration Portal, in addition to her role at Dai Nam Joint Stock Company, Ms. Hang also has roles at a number of other businesses.

At Hang Huu Huynh Wastewater Treatment Joint Stock Company, Ms. Hang is one of the founding shareholders with over 15% of shares (as of the time of search on March 31, 2022). At Christina LLC, Ms. Hang is both the owner and the general director.

According to the resolution of the shareholders' meeting of Dai Nam Company in April 2020, Ms. Hang owns 41% of shares and is a member of the board of directors. Dai Nam Company also announced that Ms. Hang is the general director of this unit. Previously, on September 19, Mr. Tran Van Cuong, Deputy Director of the People's Procuracy of Binh Duong province confirmed that there was a decision to reduce the sentence for Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang (53 years old, residing in Ho Chi Minh City). The decision was transferred to An Phuoc Prison for execution, releasing Ms. Hang today (September 19).

According to Mr. Cuong, although An Phuoc Prison is under the Ministry of Public Security, the People's Procuracy of Binh Duong province is assigned to participate in the council to consider reducing sentences for this prison (and Phu Hoa Prison, also under the Ministry of Public Security).

In addition, Mr. Cuong also added that Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang was considered for a sentence reduction (not amnesty) during the September 2nd holiday along with many other prisoners, but the list was approved by the Ministry of Public Security slowly, so the decision to reduce the sentence was only made now.

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang was arrested on March 24, 2022 and sentenced to 3 years in prison by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court for abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

However, after the verdict, although Ms. Hang did not appeal, the high court in Ho Chi Minh City still considered reducing Ms. Hang's sentence by 3 months, to 2 years and 9 months. After that, Ms. Hang served her sentence at An Phuoc Prison (Ministry of Public Security, located in An Thai Commune, Phu Giao District, Binh Duong).
