Vietnamese track and field athlete won the race thanks to being chased by dogs, fans 'laughed with tears'

The 'bad crying' story is causing people to stir, spreading widely on the online community. It was an incident in which the Vietnamese national team athlete won the cross-country race because he was chased by a dog during a competition.

He finished first with a time of 47 minutes and 38 seconds. After the race ended, the original runner Ha Tinh revealed a special reason why he had to run faster than expected.

On February 28, VTV Sports fanpage posted a clip of Vietnamese track and field athlete, Nguyen Trung Cuong winning the cross-country race due to being chased by dogs. Accordingly, in the men's professional 15km distance, Nguyen Trung Cuong finished first with a very fast speed. In an interview with VTV, Trung Cuong revealed: "Today's run is quite beautiful, a bit hilly. I have one uncle in particular who was running when he was chased by a dog. I ran pace 320. Being chased by dogs, I ran under 3. I finished with a time of 47 minutes and 38 seconds at 15 km."

A viewer later posted a video online of the moment Trung Cuong was chased by a dog on the run. The author of the article also commented: "This athlete with his efforts and the help and resonance of the homestead on the track has finished first in the 15km distance of the cross-country tournament system".

This year's Hai Duong Open Cultural Heritage Connection Cross Country Tournament took place in Con Son, Kiep Bac. The tournament attracted more than 850 professional and movement athletes, competing in distances: 5km, 10km and 15km, including many national players.

While Trung Cuong finished first in the men's 15km professional event, the women's championship went to Nguyen Thi Oanh. In the 10km distance, Le Van Thao won the men's event while Bui Thi Thu Ha won the women's event. The 5km distance was won by Luong Duc Phuoc and Doan Thu Hang, respectively.

Trung Cuong was born in 2000, a native of Ky Thuong commune, Ky Anh Ha Tinh district, is the owner of the gold medal in the 3,000m hurdles SEA Games 32 with a record of 8 minutes 51 seconds 99. Previously, Trung Cuong also achieved many impressive achievements in a number of international tournaments such as the silver medal of the U18 Asian Championship 2017, the bronze medal of the Asian Youth Athletics Championship 2018, the silver medal of SEA Games 30, 2 gold medals of the Southeast Asian student tournament, the gold medal of the Hong Kong Open.

In the past, there have been a number of cases of athletes being chased by dogs when participating in races. Last year, Kenyan athlete Robert Kimutai Ngeno had a similar incident while participating in a tournament in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At that time, Ngeno was leading but at the 38th kilometer, he was suddenly chased by a dog on the side of the road. The Kenyan runner had to work very hard to get rid of the dog. This incident caused him to suffer psychologically so he only ended up finishing third.
