Thai Hoa has long been known as the "box office king" of Vietnamese cinema, with the ability to transform diversely in each role. In the movie "Fight to the Death in the Sky", what makes people wonder is the fate of Thai Hoa's son also appearing in the movie.
From humorous and charming characters to psychologically thorny roles, Thai Hoa has left a strong impression on the audience. A series of films such as "De Mai Tinh", "Long Ruoi", "Teo Em", "Qua Tim Mau", "Chang Vo Cua Em", "Hon Papa, Da Con Gai" or "Tiec Trang Mau" have all contributed to affirming his solid position in the film industry.
After his important role in the film "Tunnel: The Sun in the Dark" released in April 2025, Thai Hoa continues to attract attention when returning to the big screen with the work "Fight to the Death in the Air" - a film by director Ham Tran, inspired by the DC-4 hijacking in 1978. This is a serious incident in Vietnamese aviation, recreated through a cinematic perspective with a tense and dramatic rhythm.
In the film, Thai Hoa plays Long - the leader of the hijackers, scheming, cruel but also filled with the despair of a father. Long plans to hijack the plane to help his son escape from the suffocating reality, regardless of the cost of many innocent lives. This is considered one of Thai Hoa's most complex roles, as he has to simultaneously portray the cold exterior and the inner conflicts within the character.
What caught the audienceâs attention the most was the appearance of Thien Minh (Bom) â Thai Hoaâs son â in this film. Many people wondered whether this was a fatherâs favoritism towards his son. However, Thai Hoa frankly said:
"Bom's participation in this film was completely fate. Director Ham Tran was the one who invited my child to audition. I did not interfere with the acting, only told him to read the script carefully and learn his lines. On set, sometimes when I saw him struggling, I did not dare to intervene, afraid that he would be distracted. All instructions were given by the director. After filming was over, I talked to him more to learn from his experience."
Thai Hoa shared that this opportunity came to Bom quite by chance. Before the film started filming, Thien Minh showed his father a few photos of himself working out. Thai Hoa showed the photo to his co-stars and the film crew. When director Ham Tran saw it, he came up with the idea of inviting Bom to audition because the film crew was looking for a tall, bright-faced guard character who could compete with Gia Nguyen - an actor with a muscular body. After the audition, Bom was considered suitable and officially joined the project.
After "Fighting in the Sky", some film studios have offered to invite Bom to participate in other projects. But Thai Hoa expressed his opinion clearly: "I think that experience is enough for you. If you want to continue in this profession, you must first go to acting school properly. This profession requires passion, seriousness and ups and downs to challenge yourself. I do not force you, the important thing is that you find joy in your work."
According to the revelation, Thien Minh is currently taking additional acting classes to better prepare if there is an opportunity in the future. For Thai Hoa, his son acting in a movie is not only an artistic experience but also an opportunity for father and son to understand each other better. "I consider this a valuable experience. Whether my son continues to be an actor or chooses another career, the most important thing is to live life to the fullest and find happiness in the job he chooses," the actor shared.
