Contact with the family of Ms. On January 20, Mr. N.Đ.TP (living in Phan Rang - Thap Cham city, Ninh Thuan province) shared about his wife's complications with hemiplegia. Specifically, in his complaint, Mr. P. said that the hospital had arbitrarily changed the method of caesarean section, leaving the mother with hemiplegia.

Specifically, according to the complaint, on November 2, 2020, Mrs. Th and her husband. to the Mekong Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital for hospitalization. Pregnant women with indications for cesarean section due to large fetus, gestational diabetes, history of allergy to anesthetics, narrow pelvis.

After completing the admission procedures, Ms. was taken to the accommodation. Here, the midwife examined and asked about the status of the pregnant woman, and Mrs. Th. Report a history of allergy to local anesthetics. The midwife can hear clearly and has a sticker to warn the mother of the above allergy.

This information was given by Ms. again presented in the pre-operative room, before entering the caesarean section. The team on duty conducted a pre-operative consultation and agreed to anesthetize for cesarean section for Ms.

However, according to Mr. P., when entering the operating room, an anesthesiologist named LQH arbitrarily changed from anesthesia to anesthesia without notifying her family in advance and without the consent of Ms. .

"The doctor ignored the patient's history of allergy to anesthetics, ignored the results of the pre-operative consultation, arbitrarily anesthetized despite my wife's pleas in the operating room. After injecting anesthetic into the spinal cord, the wife's wife I had strong convulsions and vomited continuously during the operation", Mr. P. said.

The husband also said that after the cesarean section, Ms. was taken to the recovery room and found to be paralyzed on the left side of the body, completely unable to move. At this time, the doctors called Mr. P. to report the postoperative status but did not mention the issue of self-anaesthesia.

The hospital side has come up with a plan to contact Gia Dinh People's Hospital to support consultation, testing and treatment, after stabilizing, return to Mekong Hospital for postpartum care. According to Mr. P. presented in the complaint, around the time his wife was transferred to the Department of Neurology and Hematology of Gia Dinh People's Hospital, the Mekong Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital was not present to support and monitor.

On November 4, 2020, pregnant woman Th. was discharged from the hospital by Gia Dinh People's Hospital with a diagnosis of left hemiplegia that recovered after 2 days of caesarean section, indicated for medical treatment. Some time later, Ms. was invited by the Mekong Hospital to a physiotherapist to practice rehabilitation.

But according to Mr. P. the practice time was often interrupted, the doctor did not come for many days and the obstetrics hospital showed signs of delay and neglect in the treatment.

According to the working minutes between the two sides, the results of the professional council meeting on November 24, 2020 of the hospital determined that the method of spinal anesthesia was not suitable, and the cause of the weakness of the pregnant woman had not been found yet. The leader of the hospital confirmed that he would be responsible for the subjective error of Dr. H. when using the anesthetic method without informing his family. However, the Mekong Hospital side said that there is no evidence of side effects of the anesthetic causing hemiplegia for the patient, making the family angry.

Sharing by phone on the morning of January 20, Ms. Th. said that her current health was weak, she was tired, and she couldn't do her daily activities, so she had to ask her relatives for help. Even holding a baby, breastfeeding a baby can't make her very sad.
