Tiet Duy Hoa: The rich prince tasted enough bitterness, the family went bankrupt, and now he is full

Those who regularly follow the comedy group Khanh Nam led by the late artist Khanh Nam will be impressed by Tiet Duy Hoa's diverse performances. Those who often watch TV are also impressed by him through his unique villainous roles, and a very lyrical bolero voice.

In addition to being multi-talented, actor Tiet Duy Hoa also receives a lot of love from the audience because of his dedication and intense love for the profession. Despite going through many ups and downs in his career, the actor still strives to persevere in dedicating himself to art.

Bankruptcy family

Tiet Duy Hoa's father is a famous car parts dealer in Chau Doc. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he had a house, a car, and plenty of money.

At that time, Tiet Duy Hoa lived a prosperous princely life. Because his father wanted Duy Hoa to continue the business, he taught his son very carefully. However, Duy Hoa's soul is only for singing.

Initially, Duy Hoa sang for the local movement. Considered to have a good voice and vibrant performance style, he was recruited as a singer for Chau Doc Town Cultural Center in 1994. The business of buying and selling spare parts is exchanged in gold. When the business was going well, one time, a customer stole a very large amount of gold from Duy Hoa's family, then disappeared.

His family had to sell their house and car to pay for it. The family went bankrupt, Duy Hoa sat down with his parents to find a way to solve the impasse. The whole family moved to live in a land of incense in a district bordering Cambodia, but Duy Hoa still clung to Chau Doc to continue his work as a singer.

Duy Hoa's means of transportation at that time was an old bicycle. If he sings at the center, he takes advantage of walking to the singing point. Meeting a singing invitation party about 10 or 15 kilometers away from his residence, he rode a bicycle to the destination. Although he was drenched in sweat, when he went on stage, he still burned with all his heart.

Tiet Duy Hoa recalled: "The salary of the singer of the town's cultural center at that time was 120,000 VND. If I want to have a piece of food, I have to run a show outside. Whoever invites me to sing, I sing. I am so deprived, but in addition to singing, I am still passionate about practicing and acting."

Duy Hoa wanted to stick with his hometown for longer, but because of the limited artistic environment, he joined the An Giang Provincial General Music and Dance Troupe in 1999. At this time, his salary is only 350,000 VND/month. In order to have enough food to keep the fire of his profession, Duy Hoa went to sing weddings and bingo-singing all the way to Ca Mau and neighboring provinces.

In order not to miss the work of the troupe, no matter how far away he sings, he has to take advantage of the opportunity to come back. Tiet Duy Hoa said: "In order to afford to maintain my artistic dream, I accepted bingo shows throughout the provinces. With the wave car, I ran from Long Xuyen to Ca Mau to sing.

One day, the show was 200 km away from Tien Giang, but at 4 p.m. from Long Xuyen running through Tien Giang finished singing more than 11 o'clock at night, and had to run through the night back to Long Xuyen so as not to miss the troupe's work the next day.

While driving, I was so tired that I fell asleep. I was startled to wake up to see the car running close to the edge of the road, how could I not have an accident."

Joining Saigon art life

In 2010, Tiet Duy Hoa went to Saigon to participate in the All-City Comedy Festival organized by artist Phuoc Sang in collaboration with the Youth Cultural House.

He won the first prize for actor and screenwriter and a silver award for actors. The contest created a predestined fate for Duy Hoa to become friends with the late comedian Khanh Nam.

In 2012, Tiet Duy Hoa returned to Saigon to study at the University of Theater & Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City. At this time, in order to have money for school, Duy Hoa worked as a coffee waiter with a salary of 10,000 VND/1 hour. Hearing this news, artist Khanh Nam asked Duy Hoa to join his comedy group. Thanks to the money for comedy performances, Duy Hoa covered all the expenses until he finished studying.

Artist Khanh Nam died, Duy Hoa returned to Long Xuyen to establish the Laughing Life theater stage. This is the first professional theater stage in the West. Duy Hoa sold the land granted by the state, sold the motorcycle as investment capital. The drama Laughing Life attracted the audience, causing a special resonance in the West.

Tiet Duy Hoa confided: "I am determined to build a drama stage here because Western people who do not have the opportunity to return to Saigon will not have the opportunity to enjoy real drama. I want to bring a healthy spiritual meal to serve this land."

But due to many objective difficulties, this stage was closed, Duy Hoa was empty-handed. Yet he still does not quench his passion for art.

Duy Hoa returned to Saigon to continue acting in coffee plays, singing in bars, participating in small roles in TV series, and performing game show skits.

He worked while managing how to take care of his mother. Thanks to his careful and filial care, my mother recovered.

Up to now, in addition to success in his career, actor Tiet Duy Hoa also has a fulfilling life next to his wife and two daughters.

In particular, the actor's youngest daughter is a fourth-year student of the Vietnam Aviation Academy. Referring to her youngest daughter, Tiet Duy Hoa expressed her pride when her daughter not only passed the exam to enter the school many people wished for but also received a scholarship from the school.
