From the bloody Wushu arena, Thuy Hien had a bold jump when participating in "Beautiful Sister Stepping on the Wind 2024". Her appearance not only refreshed the program but also brought positive messages.
Thuy Hien's full name is Nguyen Thuy Hien, born on March 11, 1979 in Hanoi, is an excellent former Wushu athlete of Vietnam. She is affectionately known as the "Queen of Wushu" or "Miss Wushu" by the media because of her rare beauty and talent.
Thuy Hien was born in a family with a sports tradition, her father is a former football player of Song Lam Nghe An, her sister - Nguyen Thuy Vinh (born in 1977) used to be a national player in Badminton. Since the age of 12, she has been studying Shaolin martial arts with martial arts master Nguyen Tung Lam at Duc Giang Junior High School.
The two sisters hid their mother in this martial arts study but received the support of their father. Particularly, Thuy Hien, thanks to her innate talent, has quickly won the trust of teachers and fellow students through her right lines, steps, and conical nose when gentle and strong far beyond many other peers. After practicing for a year, she continuously won many Gold medals in conical dances and training in traditional martial arts tournaments in the city as well as nationwide.
During these years, Wushu began to be introduced to Vietnam by Mr. Hoang Vinh Giang, then the director of the Hanoi Department of Physical Education and Sports. 1992 can be considered a big turning point for Thuy Hien when she was chosen by Hoang Vinh Giang to practice Wushu at Hanoi's first Wushu class.
Under the direct guidance of teachers: Nguyen Tung Lam, Nguyen Xuan Thi and especially two coaches from China, Phan Han Quang and Tran Huc Hong Thuy Hien, have made great progress. Only 1 year later (1993), at the 2nd World Championships held in Malaysia, she was only 14 years old and was selected for the Vietnamese team to compete in the taolu (performance) event.
Attending an international tournament for the first time, Thuy Hien received the encouragement of teachers and brothers and sisters in the delegation, thereby overcoming worries and pressures, completing two excellent exams; brought Wushu Vietnam a Gold medal in Martial Arts and a Silver medal in Truong Quyen.
This event has brought Thuy Hien into the history of Vietnamese sports as the first person to win a world gold medal. Returning home, she was awarded the 3rd class Labor Medal by the Government. In 1994, she participated in the Wushu competition at Asiad but failed.
In 1995, it was considered a bumper year for Thuy Hien's medals. At the Southeast Asian Wushu Championships held in Hanoi, she won 2 Gold medals in Martial Arts and Boxing. In the same year, he was also sent to participate in the Wushu World Championships held in Baltimore, USA; due to confronting Chinese athletes, Hien only won one silver medal and two bronze medals.
In 1996, Thuy Hien was sent to train in Guangzhou for a long time. At the same time, she competed once at the Asian Wushu Championships held in the Philippines, winning a Gold medal in Martial Arts and a Silver medal in Truong Quan.
In 1997, Thuy Hien won 2 Gold medals in martial arts and martial arts at the 19th SEA Games held in Indonesia and only about 20 days later, at the Wushu World Championships held in Rome (Italy) she won 1 Gold medal in Martial Arts and two Silver medals in Martial Arts. School of Rights.
With remarkable achievements, Thuy Hien was awarded the 2nd class Labor Medal by the State and was voted the Best Athlete in Vietnam in 1997. In 1999, she won the Gold medal in boxing and the Silver medal in sword and spear in the 5th World Championships.
2001 continued to be a bumper year for Thuy Hien's gold medal. At the 21st SEA Games, she won 3 Gold medals. Also in this year, "pocketed" 3 more Gold medals at the Wushu World Championships in Armenia. In 2003, the female athlete brought home the gold medal in fencing at the 7th World Championships held in Macau.
Since 2005, Thuy Hien has retired from competition and become a coach and referee in Wushu for the Hanoi Department of Physical Education and Sports. After retiring, she gradually found her passion for singing and also tried her hand in the field of art, showing her diverse talents and the relentless spirit of discovery of a "Wushu Queen".
Before participating in the program "Beautiful Sister Stepping on the Wind 2024", Thuy Hien appeared in the MV "Phoenix Wings" Tung Duong. In addition, in 2016, she also participated in the movie "Female Giant" by director Le Van Kiet with her sister.
Having a top-notch sports career, Thuy Hien's personal life is full of fluctuations. Her marriage to musician Tu Dua in 2001 was the focus of public attention. However, their love is not sustainable enough to stand the test of time.
After breaking up, Thuy Hien shouldered all the responsibilities of raising children, working as a coach and running a fashion business to stabilize her life. 2019 marked a new turning point in her life when she decided to marry her best friend from childhood.
However, this relationship is also not sustainable and has ended. The two choose to return to the pure friendship as before. Going through the events of her marriage, Thuy Hien decided to live single and no longer cherish the dream of a family home.
Turning 50 years old, the "Queen of Wushu" once still retains her youthful, beautiful physique and is satisfied with her current life. Sharing about participating in the program "Beautiful women ride the wind and turn the waves 2024", she said that she wants to convey positive messages to women, hoping that they will be more confident and believe in themselves.
