Thu Trang usurped Tran Thanh in an unbelievable way, the box office war was even more tense

According to Box Office Vietnam, Tran Thanh's film "The Four Avengers" collected 255 billion VND as of the morning of February 6. Meanwhile, Thu Trang's "Silver Kiss" collected 86 billion VND.

For 8 consecutive days from 29.1 to 5.2, the "Quarterback" always held the No. 1 position in daily revenue at the box office. The film topped the daily sales with the number of tickets sold and the screening space overwhelmingly dominated the rest of the films at the theater.

Thu Trang's film "Billion-dollar kiss" also started slowly, without a breakthrough in sales when screenings were limited. However, on February 4 and February 5, "Billion Silver Kiss" was doubled to help the film revenue outperform. There was even a time when Thu Trang's film revenue was about to catch up with Tran Thanh's "Four Avengers" project.

But on the morning of February 6, the situation changed unexpectedly. According to Box Office Vietnam, calculating the number of pre-booked tickets and sales on the morning of February 6, Tran Thanh's "Quarterback" suddenly fell to the top 2 of the Vietnamese box office when it only brought in more than 3.1 billion VND even though the film accounted for more than 4,100 screenings.

In contrast, Thu Trang's "Billion Silver Kiss" rose to the top with 3.4 billion VND in the morning of 6.2, and the film had 3,700 screenings. Thus, after 8 days of screening in theaters, Tran Thanh's project "The Four Warriors" was surpassed by Thu Trang's film for the rare time (by day) on the morning of February 6.

At this rate, Thu Trang's film will soon reach 100 billion VND in the next few days. This largely comes from the positive effect of the audience on social media. Viewers appreciate the film thanks to its gentle script, charming comedy and close message.

The cast is not too excellent but still retains its naturalness, not causing discomfort to the audience.

In particular, the factor that creates curiosity and lively discussion is the "tearing of the blind bag" in the after credits scene. In that scene, in each different theater, the audience will see Van (Doan Thien An) choosing Quang (Le Xuan Tien) or choosing Tu (Ma Ran Do).

In addition, Thu Trang - Tien Luat and the cast actively organize cinetours to also bring the film closer to the public. This exciting promotional activity not only helps the film maintain its heat but also creates a motivation for theater clusters to consider and adjust more screenings to meet the needs of the audience.

With the current growth momentum, it is difficult for the Four Quarters to surpass the milestone of 551 billion VND that Mai reached last year. The film received many mixed opinions from the audience, when some viewers thought that the film had not met expectations and was somewhat inferior to Tran Thanh's previous projects.

Remember in the 2023 and 2024 Tet film seasons, Tran Thanh continuously held the crown at the box office. Even this male director's project occupied the No. 1 position at the daily box office for about 1 month when his film premiered in theaters. The male director's project at that time was "Ba Nu's House" and "Mai" had no competition in theaters even though they had to confront Vietnamese films and foreign blockbusters.

However, this year's Tet film season, Tran Thanh's films are decreasing daily sales and screenings a lot. Although currently, the total revenue of "The Quarterback" is still superior to the rest of the films in theaters, but the ticket sales speed of the project that Tran Thanh leads has decreased significantly compared to before.

According to the predictions of film experts, although the Tet film season is over, the sales of "The Fourth Quarter" and "The Billion Kiss" will not stop increasing and will continue to reach new milestones before a strong enough competitor appears to participate in the profit cake.

This weekend, the Vietnamese movie "Lamp of the Soul" will be released in theaters, promising to surprise at the box office because of the strange genre that has been quite popular in Vietnam recently. While the Marvel blockbuster "Captain America: Brave New World" is about to be screened at the Vietnamese box office from February 14, it will be a strong competitor to the films Thu Trang and Tran Thanh.
