Actress and miss Thu Huong was born in 1979 in Hanoi in an ordinary working family. At the age of 14, she was sent by her family to take modeling classes and then go to fashion shows.

The first contest that the actress participated in was "Santa Beauty" and won 4th prize with a prize money of 750,000 VND. With this money, she bought herself the most "bossy" mini bike in the neighborhood.

She said: "I come from an ordinary working family, so since childhood, I have consciously made efforts and strived to study. After school, I went to fashion shows and had money to pay my tuition. Thanks to that, my parents also somewhat relieved the burden."

At the age of 16, Thu Huong participated in the Miss Sports contest with the encouragement of her teacher. In this contest, she won the first prize and 5 secondary prizes with the amount of 65 million VND.

After the contest, Thu Huong received many invitations to fashion shows but was self-deprecating with a height of 1m65, so she decided to find another more suitable position. Thu Huong majored in journalism, then collaborated with Vietnam Television as an MC.
