Teacher Nguyen Ngoc Ky - the first teacher to write letters with his feet - died at 2:05 on September 28, at the age of 76. Throughout his life, teacher Ky has written stories with strange charm, inspiring many generations of students.
Master Nguyen Ngoc Ky was born on June 28, 1947 in Hai Thanh commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh. Everything was really full of hope when the first years of Nguyen Ngoc Ky's life were a healthy child. However, when he was four years old, a sudden illness took both his hands away, resulting in him being paralyzed in both hands forever, unable to hold a pen anymore, and of course, studying will end. from now.
After that day, Nguyen Ngoc Ky was very sad. But realizing that to change this bad life, there is no other way but to study. And after that day, determined not to surrender to fate, Nguyen Ngoc Ky practiced writing with his own feet.
At first, he confided that writing with his feet was a very difficult thing, sometimes he was angry because he couldn't hold the pen and wanted to give up everything. Gradually, he calmed down and was able to write the letter O, the letter A and then draw a ruler, rotate a compass, make bird cages and toys to play with.
At the age of 9, he entered grade 1 (according to the 10-year educational program in the North before).
In 1962, he was awarded a badge by President Ho Chi Minh. In 1963, when he was in 7th grade, he participated in the National Mathematical Competition for excellent students and ranked 5th, was awarded the second badge by President Ho Chi Minh and jointly won many prizes in mathematics.
Entering high school, he was captivated by the character Paven Coocsaghin in the work Hardened Steel, the embodiment of author Nikolai A.Ostrovsky, so he switched his dream from math to literature.
From 1966 to 1970, Nguyen Ngoc Ky studied Literature at Hanoi University.
He conceived: "Away from school, far from class but not far from books". In 1970, he successfully defended his Graduation Thesis and published the first collection of foot-written stories with the title: "Unforgettable years" (later "I went to school", "I went to university". " reprinted many times).
Graduating from the University of Languages and Literature, Nguyen Ngoc Ky followed the advice of the late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong about Hai Hau, Nam Dinh (his hometown) as a teacher to "teach the children to strive to overcome all obstacles and difficulties. contribute to the unification of the country".
In order to be able to give lectures with disabled hands, teacher Nguyen Ngoc Ky has thought and explored many methods and methods of teaching. He has devised a very creative and effective teaching method. He designed the models himself, laid out the cards on the cover of a piece of hard paper, and covered with a white sheet of paper. Wherever he preached, he pulled down the paper covering the outside with his foot, and the words appeared. Along with his lively and inspiring voice, he convinced the students. Not only that, in any lesson he also comes up with very unique poetic puzzles. For example, when teaching Nguyen Trai's work, he entered the lesson with a few quizzes:

During his visit to Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh, the late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong said: "Teacher Nguyen Ngoc Ky is a representative of extraordinary and miraculous efforts, a shining example for young people today, especially those with disabilities to follow". On November 20, 1992, he was honored to receive the title of Distinguished Teacher.
In 1993, after entering Ho Chi Minh City for medical treatment, his health declined seriously. From 1994, he moved to Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City and from then until 2005, he was assigned the task of attending lectures of secondary school teachers, transcribing, synthesizing, drawing experiences, then comments. In 2005, the Vietnam Record Book Center awarded him the title: "Vietnam's first teacher uses his feet to write".
With writing, Mr. Character admits this is also a arduous career. From the 8th grade to the 10th grade, he wrote hundreds of poems and essays, but no newspaper published them.
It wasn't until his freshman year of college that his first poem, The Mountain Catching Pilots, was published. He was extremely happy, started writing his first autobiography called Years Not Forgotten, later renamed I Go to School.
His life and writing practice is included in the textbooks by the Ministry of Education and Training as an encouragement that each person needs to have willpower, determination, as well as believe in themselves. .
He was also invited to exchange, educate the reason for life and foster the desire to learn for many young generations in the country.
