News from the Ha Giang Provincial Police, at around 12:30 p.m. on September 30, the functional forces found Mr. T.D.D (31 years old), one of the people missing in the landslide in Nam Buong village, Viet Vinh commune, Bac Quang district, Ha Giang province.
Previously, on September 29, Mr. D. used his phone to livestream, warning people to avoid passing through the km51 area on National Highway 2 (the section passing through Viet Vinh commune, Bac Quang district, Ha Giang) due to the risk of landslides.
During the live stream, he constantly reminded viewers to share videos to warn those who plan to pass through the km51 area of National Highway 2, stay away from dangerous places because the hill shows signs of imminent landslides.
When he saw some motorcyclists approaching the danger area, Mr. D. quickly urged them to stop or move quickly. After about 5 minutes of livestream, the hill began to collapse. Some motorcyclists were swept away by the soil and rocks and fell to the road. Soon after, Mr. D.'s live video was also interrupted.
Currently, Mr. D. has been handed over to his family to take care of the aftermath. Talking to the press, Ms. T.T.Tr (37 years old), Mr. T.D.D.'s sister, shared that relatives are suppressing their pai.n to take care of their younger brother. Mr. D. is the only son in a family with three sisters and is not married.
"Since I couldn't contact my family, the neighbors both relied on the authorities and searched for me in the hope of seeing her. My father desperately went to look for me and my mother cried all her tears, but so far all hopes have been extinguished when the functional forces find her," Ms. Tr. said.
For her, Mr. D. is a gentle person, loves his sister, and is enthusiastic about everyone around him. After completing his military service, her brother returned to the locality and actively participated in activities and helped neighbors. "My passing is an indescribable loss and bitterness of the family," Ms. Tr. said.
"When I livestreamed my brother, I shouted to everyone to 'run, run', but I couldn't run myself. My parents are with relatives and neighbors to take care of their children, I am very worried about their health," Ms. Tram said.
For her, Mr. D. is a gentle person, loves his sister, and is enthusiastic about everyone around him. After completing his military service, the younger brother returned to the locality and actively participated in activities and helped neighbors.
According to initial statistics, the landslide with more than tens of thousands of m3 of soil and rock, about 200 m in height and about 300 m in length occurred on the morning of September 29, causing traffic on National Highway 2 to be completely paralyzed.
The landslide also caused 8 houses to completely collapse and 11 houses to be affected; 6 vehicles in circulation were pushed down by thousands of landslides.
At the time of the landslide, the dash cam of a vehicle recorded the moment the hill suddenly collapsed while the vehicles were moving on National Highway 2. In which, there was 1 bus, many cars and motorbikes pushed away by the soil for meters. Up to now, the functional forces have searched for 3 people who died in the landslide. Currently, there are still 2 suspected missing people in the above area. Functional forces rescued 8 injured people.
Along with carrying out the search for missing persons, Ha Giang Police officers and soldiers have supported households in areas at high risk of landslides to relocate to safe places. At the same time, assign and arrange officials to monitor the situation, temporarily prohibit vehicles from passing through, guide people to move to bypass routes to ensure traffic safety.
Also on the morning of September 30, the Youth Union of Ha Giang Provincial Police and the Phuc Tam Hanoi Volunteer Club handed over 150 rubber boots, 150 raincoats, and 150 rubber gloves to the rescue force. The District Police Women's Association also coordinates with volunteer organizations to cook rice and divide it into meals, promptly ensuring logistics for the forces participating in search and rescue.
