The cast of Shark Tank VN season 6 has been announced, in which the only female "shark" receiving a lot of attention is Le Han Tue Lam. Contrary to what many people think, the businesswoman comes from a poor family and lost her father at a young age.

For those who don't know, Le Han Tue Lam (born 1994, Hai Duong) is Director of Nextrans Vietnam Investment Fund. She was once on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

Before that, she once said: "When I was young, every morning I would get 500 dong for breakfast, 500 could only buy 1 piece of bread, no more, no less. There were days when my mother sent all the money to my sisters, I knew that so I just ignored it. Silently going to school, carrying an empty stomach.

Then, on the days when my mother was sick, couldn't go to the market, and had no money, I could only cook a pot of rice, boil some vegetables picked from the pond, and didn't have any food. There were days when I ate rice and vegetables constantly, I suddenly told my mother: 'I crave meat so much!'. Sure enough, the next day I saw a small bowl with a few pieces of meat on the tray. Now I think that's a statement enough to make mothers heartbroken."

Not disappointing her mother, Tue Lam put a lot of effort into studying. The proof is that she passed the English specialized class for the 2009 - 2012 term at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted (Hai Duong). However, Tue Lam admitted that when she was in high school, she did not have a "brilliant" academic record as people often think.

"I was very normal in high school, like many of my friends my age. During my 3 years of high school, my only goal was to pass the Foreign Trade exam, because the goal of English majors for generations is almost always the same. It's like it's all about Foreign Trade. During high school, I spent almost all my time focusing on studying so I don't have too many memories, but passing the English major also created a good learning environment for me to try. Try harder," Tue Lam once confided.

With the goal of entering Foreign Trade University - the top economic training school in the country, taking extra classes day and night is sometimes difficult to pass, but Tue Lam is mainly self-taught. Partly because of family circumstances, but the bigger reason is due to the autonomy within the "female shark". During her 3 years of high school or even when studying for the entrance exam to major in English as a student at a district school, she spent most of her time self-studying, exploring and researching knowledge.

Tue Lam confided: "When I took the university entrance exam, the graduation exam was separate from the university exam, so after finishing the graduation exam at school, I went back to my hometown to study for the exam within 3 months, the only university exam subject I studied. At that time, it was Math and I had to study for the 2 English Literature subjects. It was hard at that time, but because my goal was already there, I was determined to focus on studying for the exam. English was a specialized subject right from the time I entered 10th grade. We are already equipped with in-depth knowledge so we don't have to worry too much...".

Finally, the "investment muse" successfully entered Foreign Trade University. Even during her school days at FTU, she did not try to become the most outstanding, but just tried to study well and step by step find opportunities for herself.

Tue Lam once confided: "There are many young people who have the same starting point as me, but there is one thing I have always kept in mind from the time I was in school until now, which is that we should compete fairly with each other, regardless of the situation. starting point. Whether doing manual labor or mental labor, our ability is what determines success. When you start a little further than everyone else, you need to focus on speed, need to go faster. In my career, I can use one word to describe it as focus."

"Concentration" is what Tue Lam aims for throughout her adult journey. In all things, she never thought far ahead about what her future would be like. Instead, Tue Lam emphasized certainty and knew how to seize the opportunities that came her way. She believes that no one can predict what will happen next or predict what they will do in the future, so always try your best every day.

One of the things that Tue Lam did during her time studying at "Harvard Chua Lang" was... investing in stocks: "My biggest decision is probably how much money to invest in stocks." I have been investing since my first year of college. I invested as much money as I had in savings. At first, I saw profits so I thought I was very good, but then I was buffeted by the ups and downs of the market and learned the lessons. definitely. From now on, I consider investing as my daily job."

After graduating from Foreign Trade University, Tue Lam experienced many jobs at many different companies.

However, to talk about her most successful turning point is joining Nextrans - a venture capital fund targeting early-stage startups in Korea, founded in 2007 and starting to enter the Vietnamese market from 2015. Here, she was responsible for investments in early-stage startups in Southeast Asia and the US.
