Several celebrities accused of involvement in Sean ' Diddy' Combs' crimes are said to have made deals with victims to avoid being publicly named in lawsuits.
Attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents 120 accusers of Sean "Diddy" Combs, said many celebrities have reached out to victims to "work things out privately." Many people tried to pay and settle smoothly so as not to be named in court during the trial.
Buzbee said at a press conference on Oct. 1: "If you attend one of these parties or you know what's going on, it means you know the particular dru.g that is being used in the drink that causes people to be physically abused, and you're in the room to participate or witnes.s the incident happen without saying anything or you help cover it up The thing, in my view, you will have problems."
In fact, the Texas-based lawyer claims "a lo.t of people" know or attend Diddy's "hangouts" without saying anything. He believes those people are responsible, and he plans to do so.
"All of these individuals have expose.d their identities in court. Who will be named, when they will be named, those things will be announced at the right time," the lawyer said.
Buzbee also pointed out that the only way some of these celebrities can remain anonymous is through settlement with the alleged victims.
"In all cases, especially in cases like this, we collect data, evidence, do due diligence, spend time with the victi.m and then in the best interest of the victi.m we try to resolve these issues without filing a public lawsuit. We've done it with some celebrities. Many of them you have heard of before," he added.
However, if high-profile individuals receive a letter requesting a refusal to settle, their names will be revealed through public lawsuits.
Currently, Sean Combs (Diddy) is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, USA, pending trial. Despite accepting to spend a large sum of mone.y, Diddy was denied bail by the judge.
Former Married at First Sight star Timothy Smith, based on his experience serving his sentence in a U.S. federal prison, said Diddy's detention conditions were terrible.
According to Smith, some people may think Diddy used mone.y and status in exchange for some special treatment, but the reality is much more harsh.
"His mone.y and wealth didn't bring any benefits. In the federal system, conditions are very limited. You don't get extra privileges because you're rich. You are allowed to wear some basic items such as suits and sneakers from the management, but that's about it. They're going to raid and if you try to hoard, they're going to take everything," Smith told Daily Mail Australia.
Smith added that Diddy was incarcerated in the detention center, so he was not allowed to interact with other inmates. There was no TV or radio, and instead prisoners were given a Bible and another book each week.
Even if they were moved back to the normal area, the conditions were no better than when there were hundreds of people but only a few TVs, divided by race.
Diddy is also said to be very limited in terms of communicating with the outside world.
"You only have 300 minutes of phone calls a month. So, if you use your phone for 30 minutes a day, after 10 days, you can't use your phone for the next 20 days. Sometimes you run out of minutes in the first week and you only know how to talk to yourself... His wealth doesn't help him here at all," the former TV star emphasized.
Smith pointed out that once the federal government decides to prosecute a person, they are sure to have the hard evidence in their hands. Therefore, the U60 man advised Diddy to accept reality because there was no way to negotiate escape from federal charges.
Before Smith, a former inmate named Larry Levine revealed to NewsNation that the food in the Metropolitan Detention Center was excess carbohydrates and "extremely bland." In addition to the mold, the food that comes to Diddy is often cold because he is confined in the area where the last food is distributed.
