When a woman carries a little angel in her womb, everyone will have a joy in their heart. Jennifer Lawrence is no exception, however, in her new appearance, she shocked the world audience with her crazy statement.
Jennifer Lawrence and the crew of the film " Di.e, My Love " are currently at the 78th Cannes Film Festival and participating in media activities and press meetings to promote the film. Director Ramsay's film " Di.e, My Love " is set in rural America and revolves around the character played by Jennifer Lawrence - a woman who has just given birth and is immersed in a mental panic. Lawrence's character Grace in the film is left alone to take care of her newborn chil.d in a dilapidated house in the remote woods of Montana.
Meanwhile, her husband (played by Robert Pattinson) seems oblivious to what his wife is going through. "Di.e, My Love" also marks Ramsay's return to the Croisette after premiering his 2017 thriller "You Were Never Really Here" (starring Joaquin Phoenix) and winning Best Screenplay at the time.
Critics praised "Di.e, My Love", especially Jennifer Lawrence's performance, for her masterful study of a woman in the throes of depression. Discussing her role in the film, Jennifer Lawrence said she felt "extremely isolated" during her postpartum period, after giving birth.
Speaking at a press conference on the eve of the film's premiere at the Cannes Film Festival , Jennifer said: "As a mother, it's really hard to separate what I would do from what she would do. And that's heartbreaking."
"There's really nothing like the postpartum period," said Jennifer, who gave birth to her first chil.d in 2022 and is five months pregnant with her second when filming begins on "Di.e, My Love" in 2024. "It's incredibly isolating. The truth is that extreme anxiety and extreme depression are isolating no matter where you are. You feel like you're an alien."
" Di.e, My Love " is based on the novel of the same name by Argentine writer Ariana Harwicz. It is Ramsay's second film to explore the darker side of motherhood, following his critically acclaimed 2011 film " We Need to Talk about Kevin ," based on the novel by Lionel Shriver.
Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson, who became a father in 2024, said he was often drawn to characters who were rougher than Jackson, but his character's struggles dealing with his wife's mental health issues resonated with him.
"Especially after the birth of a chil.d, when you're trying to deal with her isolation and trying to figure out your heart and your role in the relationship, it's incredibly difficult," Robert Pattinson said at Cannes. "He's not a mental health professional. He's just hoping that the relationship will go back to how it was before."
Despite the horrors of early motherhood portrayed in the film, Jennifer Lawrence claims that having children has made her a better actress. "I didn't know I could feel so much," she said. "My work is very emotional... and it's changed me creatively. I really recommend having children if you want to be an actor."
According to Variety on May 19, Mubi has acquired the rights to Lynne Ramsay's " Di.e My Love " in the United States and other regions in a deal worth a total of $24 million. The film, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, premiered at the 78th Cannes Film Festival on Saturday night (local time) and received a six-minute standing ovation.
